I’m getting really excited. I’am 100% reliant on public transport or my partner for getting around. I live in a smallish apartment, so I need a fold away bike and have seen the coolest one from Dohan. Still thinking about wheel size but I’m getting very excited about being able to zip around town much more easier – and it’ll help me shift some pounds and get my six-pack.
How to own a bike
How I did it: Did research, test drove bikes at the store and asked a lot of questions to the guys at the bike store and also anyone I met.
I checked lots of websites, both message boards and of stores, also looked on craigslist and met people off of craigslist.
It was kind of a long process but I ride my bike every day and I wanted the right fit.
Lessons & tips: Dont be afraid to ask questions, and to test drive bikes, even if you don't plan on it that day. Good bike shops are more than willing to help you and understand the process. It's worth it to go to a small, independent bike shop because they don't pressure you and also the bikes are better quality, and they provide follow up services.
I also learned that many times buying through a chain store (or Target, Wal Mart, etc) you have to assemble your own bike, so if you aren't prepared to do that, or to pay the extra fee to bring it to the small shop to have it assembled anyway, you might as well support your local business!

To me, riding a bike is one of the most UNDERrated things. The feeling of having the wind on your face as you glide down a street or path is nothing short of exhilarating after a tall stack of papers has consumed your weekday. Highly recommended!

to mark this as ‘done!’ I got my bike last week and it’s soooooo nice! It’s light blue and white, and is a GT Avalanche. Now I just need some spare time to go riding! :)

Well I’ve had a look at a few different bikes that I’m interested in. I just sent my Aunty and Uncle (who are crazy into mountain and roadbiking) an email asking which ones they’d suggest. Now I just have to make my decision and go get it! Hooray for progress!

This was originally “go bike riding”.......but as part of restructuring my goals I thought that focusing on actually getting a bike might be the logical first step ;)

of choosing a bike at the moment. It’s going to be a birthday present I think :) Really looking forward to this. There’s some great places to go around here, and also some great clubs to get involved in too.
