Hey, neighbor. I don’t stop by your 43-things page often enough, or interact very often, but when I do, I’m always rewarded. Seeing that it was your birthday yesterday, I thought I’d take the opportunity to tell you how awesome I find your goals and entries. I especially identify with the following things that you’ve written about:

• Starting on 43-things at a time of radical change in your life.

• Grieving the loss of a parent after a period of extended care-giving.

• Coping with health problems and aging.

• Trying to figure out how to support yourself financially.

• Trying to express your creativity through your pottery, your writing, and other things that you do.

• Trying to help needy friends and set appropriate boundaries.

• Trying to make a difference.

• Sharing about all these things honestly and openly on 43-Things, with determination and a sense of humor, in the spirit of Rosie the Riveter and her generation of strong women.

I hope that the coming year is one where you can take charge, find healing, continue to express your artistry and creativity. I’m glad to know that you’re in my neighborhood. I wish you many happy returns.

Happy Birthday Dear Razzzzzzzzzzzz!

I have to admit that I don’t really know Razz that well, but looking at the things on her list I think she and I would get along famously. I usually encounter her on birthday goals, and have invited her to some over the years. I’ve made a mental note to check in on her now, so maybe I’ll get to know her better this year. Here are my wishes for her for the coming year:

May her health improve in the coming year, especially as her arm heals, and losing those 20 pounds by using her treadmill at least four times a week. May she continue to have quality time with her family, especially her granddaughter. And may she visit more states on her quest to visit all 50, or at least have at least one road trip a quarter that has no predetermined destination.

May you have a wonderful day and year, full of artistic blossoming, vibrant health and exuberant happiness!
