Got to my first target. Did weigh 16 stone, now weigh 15 stone. Been under 15 stone for a week now so pretty sure it’s not going to go up again.

Not quite sure what my ideal weight is but I’m still nowhere near. Next target: 14st 7lb. Bring on the pies! I mean salad. Yes, salad.

I would totally recommend weight watchers to anyone whose dieting alone. You need support in an environment where you aren’t going to be judged and scrutinised for what you are/aren’t doing. I don’t go anymore but I still follow the points plan, but not so strictly- I shifted the majority of weight that I wanted to and now I’m doing it alone. It is tough and there are days where I pig out still, but a little of something you like once in a while gives you a little boost. As far as I’m concerned if I really want a piece of cake and I have been good all week then darn it I’m gonna have one at the weekend…but I’ll do some aerobic exercise to counteract it.

In Feb 2004 my weight was 324lbs. My doctor suggested that I lose 170lbs to be at a healthy weight. By June 2005 I managed to lose 39lbs. on my own, I had RNY gastric bypass. I lost weight very slowly but with surgery I dropped 70lbs by the time my window closed. I still need to lose 75lbs. to get to my goal.

Motivation please... 21 months ago

So like many other people I would like to get to my ideal weight. I have gained almost 50 lbs since the birth of my daughter, about 18months ago, and I was overweight then! When I had her, I became a stay at home mom, then I started home schooling my 9 year old son. I have social anxiety as it is, combined now with the weight gain, I NEVER get out of the house.

My parents were slightly over weight when I was growing up. My dad has since lost weight, getting to a size he was in when he was in his late 20’s trying to fend off diabetes, and he has and is now healthy. (Mom is another story)

The thing that saddens me is what I’m doing to my children. I don’t want them to think it is o.k. to be over weight. I don’t want them to have to shop in the plus size section. I want them to know when you set a goal you stick to it, not find another diet.

But not only that. I want the silly things, like to go and find something I like, and be able to try it on, not look for my size and see it only goes up to 1x. I want to be o.k. with wearing a bathing suit, I want to have the cute little body, that if I wanted to show it off I could, but I choose not to.

I think my biggest problem is my husband who is also over weight. I will ask him to do a diet with me, and he wants to diet on his own (which he doesn’t or he starts on and the quits after a week) Or I ask him to walk with me, and “the game’s on”. Things like that. I feel like I have no support system. I’m considering joining Weight Watchers. I know of several people who have done that with great success.

my ruin 2 years ago

i have always struggled with my relationship to food, and do have a tendancy to over eat. i am 6ft tall and would like to get down to 12 stone. this is a very good weight for me – not skinny, about a size 12 and i have been the happiest with my body at around this. unfortunatly i have allowed my self to creap upto a size 18 over the last few years and i need to get a grip and sort out my diet because it realy has got to be beyond a joke and i am very unhappy. i know i can do this i just have to be strong

Mainly so my doctor will stop scolding me about it.

What I’m doing: no more red meat. (Well, less of it, anyway.) Less candy. Some kind of body movement every day (usually yoga or the treadmill. Swimming once the weather improves.) Less soda pop. More fruit and vegetables.
