Went in June 2005 and saw five shows in three days. Personally I did not find the acting to be all that amazing, and the directorial/presentation choices were banal. But me and my boyfriend were definitely in the minority in our mild disdain; the rest of the audience was apparently enthusiastic.
You can’t beat the setting—Ashland and the surrounding countryside are gorgeous.
This visit will break the bank, though; lodging, meals and tickets add up to hundreds of dollars a day, both weekdays and weekends. No cheap lodging and the only entertainment in town is the festival. Only worth it if you’re rich.

Merry Wives of Windsor in their Elizabethan Theatre. Way, way worth it!

Kids in other places went to the zoo, but our school outings were to the Ashland Shakespearean Festival. We saw Coreolanus in 7th grade. Never to be forgotten.

Joe Mayer has a job again, but it ain't much to speak of...
I’ve actually been before, but it was probably 20+ years ago, and I wasn’t all that interested at the time (I just went because my then-girlfriend wanted to go). So, I’d like to go once and actually pay attention to the play…

this is almost not work doing anymore. The woman who runs in now is moving away from shakespear and into other plays. She’s really pooing it all up, so if you want to do you should do it as soon as possible.

I’ve been. It was awesome. I saw MacBeth. Hippies, music, drama, free love. Lithia Park. Make the trip – it is worth it. (p.s. don’t drink the water in Lithia Park, unless you like funky-tasting mineral water.)

Ashland is an amazing town and the shakespeare plays are beyond compare. There is a reason the oregon shakespeare festival is well known.
