I went back in the next day to visit GiGi, but not only was she already chosen for adoption, she was already home with her new family. No more visiting for me until I’m officially approved and can choose a cat on the spot.
I’ve finally submitted my application. Now wondering if maybe I should wait until after my trip to Spain before I adopt a cat. Don’t want to leave just as it’s getting used to me. The adoption approval (assuming I get approved) is good for 6 months.

Her name is Peri and I knew the second I saw her that she was meant to be my kitty. I picked her up and she nuzzled into me right away. Beautiful black and brown calico. And while I was holding her, one of the staff came into the room, gave me an apologetic look, and marked “adopted” on her chart. Sigh.
Another little girl caught my eye. Her name is GiGi. She’s 2 yrs old, but so small I thought she was still a kitten. She’s a cutie, but a bit timid. She seemed a little uncomfortable when I picked her up, but she still let me do it. Found out afterwards she had just been spayed 2 days before. No wonder she was uncomfortable.
Going to try and go back on my lunchbreak tomorrow to visit her again and also bring in my application form.

Harriet did not like me much. Lots of clawing, scratching and hissing. Will go back again and spend more time with some of the other cats.

I’ve been talking about getting a cat for years now. I’m a commitment-phobe. But I think it’s time.
I’ve heard the local SPCA is desperately over-crowded, so I looked up the cats up for adoption on their website and found Harriet.

She’s cute and I would definitely prefer an adult cat to a kitten. I’ve emailed the SPCA about meeting her. We’ll see what happens.
