Oh2BeA_Yalie is thinking about not procrastinating over the weekend

Oh... to be a Yalie... 12 months ago

I have always loved Yale and would love more than anything else to get in. I kind of actually despise Gilmore Girls now… just because competition is even higher since Rorie’s acceptance. I am a freshman in high school and am quite worried about my future concerning the Ivy’s. I would die if I didn’t get into Yale, but for the life of me I can’t think of anything I could do to stand out! I know that I should start some program or after school club for like under-privileged children, but I have not the faintest clue as to how I should go about this! I thought I could possibly start a tennis club, for I love tennis, but there really aren’t that many children in my area that are under-privileged, and even if there were, I have no idea as to how I could get anyone to join. I also play the viola, but am not talented so that won’t work, unless I ask a prodigious friend to help… hmm…. Well, if anyone has ANY helpful tips or suggestions, I would love the advice! And for those of you who have been accepted/are currently students of Yale, any advice on your part would be much appreciated! Thanks!

non ivy = better - for now anyway 2 years ago

So I’m coming to find that right now, college is going pretty easily. My ivy league friends, however, are having a tougher time. I think with all the changes going on, it’s better that I’m not also having to stay up late every night and do homework. Also, I’m glad I’m not at a school with a million competetive people. In my program in high school everything was so competetive, but now I can sit back and learn. I still think I want to go to an Ivy graduate school…we’ll see…

I just reread my first entry, and I completely agree with it. I just got back from orientation at the college I am going to and I am extremely happy and excited to be going there! Maybe I’ll go Ivy for grad school, or try to, but I’ve learned that perhaps that’s not all that important. I’ll leave it here just for fun now though.

hurrah! hurrah! pennsylvania! 2 years ago

university of pennsylvania
class of 2007
i bleed red and blue.

people always seem to forget about penn…it’s not as big a name as dartmouth or princeton or yale or harvard, but i kind of like that a lot about penn. i usually get asked if i go to penn state, at which point i have to explain that penn is not penn state, and is actually in the ivy league. i like to think we’re not as elitist as some of the other ivies (but that may or may not be true). what is certain is that i had a kickass time at penn, and it was definitely the best school for me!

Ivy League? 2 years ago

My high school was a brick building and had vines growing on one side of it. The biology teachers would always say they kept it like that so they could call it an Ivy League School. So yeah, I’ve gone to one of those things. Hahaha..

ivy importance 2 years ago

im not so sure how much i really want to go to an ivy league school anymore…i think i just wanted to go because of the cache, which isn’t really a good reason…i will leave it as a goal for now, however, i think that i have more important goals in my life…as long as i go to a good school and get a good education i think i will be happy
