Spend Cash only

So well I’ve decided to cross it off the list.

We’ve used the atm card a few times, but we havnt impulse shopped or overspent for nearly 2 months.

We’re off to the city for a holiday this weekend, and I have even gone as far as to refuse to pay for the hotel on my credit card (which hotel managers demand, so you cant cancel your booking)

I arranged with the hotel for us to pay by bank transfer. No fees, no interest.

Plus, the hotel can still be garunteed that we will show up. Everyones happy :)

We are okay – ish with our budget at the moment, much better than other people our age, but we aren’t great. We arn’t tracking our grocery budget, and when we run out of cash, we use our ATM card to get more.

Well not anymore we wont…

From here on in we are living on a cash only budget. We are putting the ATM card in a glass of water and putting it in the freezer. From now on we will write a cheque for the cash amount of our weekly variable budget (food, entertainment etc) and cash the cheque at the bank. Then, when the money runs out, we’re done. Thats it. No more cash. Hopefully this will train us to manage better on what we have and nothing else.

Oh, and the ATM card is fine, we just have to wait before we can buy anything with it… no impulse purchases for us!!
