I hope I’ll be able to!
How to give up Starbucks
How I did it: Ever since I moved to my new house, I have been inconveniently placed away from Starbucks. It's closer to my house than to the local hang out, so I invite my friends home instead. It saves money and it's more comfortable anyway. Win win situation! Now I don't spend my money and free calories on Starbucks just 'because'. I've been Starbucks free for 20 days!! Just gotta keep it going, because it honestly doesn't even appeal to me anymore!
Lessons & tips: It's a matter of breaking habit and changing your priorities. Is it the coffee your after, or the atmosphere? If it's the atmosphere, find another place! Or simply change the menu choices; you don't have to have the 4000 calorie latte, even though you're there. Right? :)
Resources: Moving. LOL!

I just don’t make enough to afford my mocha habit. If I make my own at home-coffee and chocolate almond milk-and put it my Big insulated cup, I’ll be able to put the money I save toward one of my other expensive habits.

... Evil I tell you.. and so costly. This goes hand in hand with my “save more money” goal. -$20×4 = +$80 per month for my bank account. That adds up!! If me and the gals want to hang out… we’ll have to just meet at the house or just walk around the mall or something… Anything to break the costly, fattening, calorie overloaded Starbucks addiction…
... my weakness is iced white chocolate mocha… Thankfully it’s getting cold now so it’s not as appealing!! LOL
Only 7 to go. I’ve had a couple “sip ups” here and there. I have YET to buy an actual Starbucks! But I have had a couple soy cappuccinos as generous gifts from friends. Also, I spend a LOT of time at Borders and used to buy Seattle’s Best coffee. I considered it ethical. But I stopped once I found out that Seattle’s Best was recently bought out by Starbucks. That’s a warning to everyone!

Ok, I’ve decided enough is enough – I have to give this habit up. I live in England, and one UK starbucks costs as much as about 5 US starbucks (mainly because I lived in small town Oregon where everyone knew everyone so most of my coffees were free). This is killing my bank balance.
So, I thought that initially I’d give it up for ten days (actually, until May 7). I spend sooo much time in starbucks, I have no idea how hard it will be, but I’ll keep you posted on it.
What am I letting myself in for?
This is my New Years resolution. No more, yuppie caffiene dealing commercial bourgeios monopolizing sell out! I probably spend $10 a week in Starbucks. $520 a year! Great now I’m $1,560 short and I’ve got a caffiene addiction. Oh well, this is my big one to the man. I figure I’ll do this for a year. Only one year because, let’s face it, a couple more and Starbucks will rule the planet. All countries will be owned by companies with the tycoons as presidents.
So long Starbucks.
Although, I did have some yesterday. I blame the world we live in, though. My hubby had to be in for hand surgery at 6 a.m. yesterday, and s’bucks was the only thing open that early. I needed caffeine to have my wits about me.
P.S. Hubby’s surgery went very well.
I don’t really want to give up starbucks – I realized that caffeine was the real problem anyway :P and there are decaf options available :).

Going on South Beach has helped me cut expensive lattes out of my life for good. I’ve been using FitDay.com to track my eating and a 600-calorie espresso beverage is just not worth it! I will occasionally splurge on a nonfat latte or herbal tea, though, which isn’t a big deal.
