Peroneus Longus tendon 14 months ago

That’s what I’d strained, apparently. It runs down the outside of the calf, around the ankle and under the arch of the foot (feet are really amazing things, when you look at how complicated their anatomy is); I’d pulled it where it goes round the ankle by twisting my foot sideways. The chiropodist bound up my foot for a couple days to take the pressure off that tendon and let it heal, and recommended I buy orthotic insoles to correct a tendency to pronate, which shortens the outside tendons and makes them more liable to strain. I did buy insoles – it’ll be important to look after my feet when I start running again – but I think they’re the wrong size, so I need to exchange them before I can use them.

My foot hurts. 15 months ago

You know the feeling you get in a joint that needs to pop, that tight kinda out-of-place feeling? I have that feeling along the outside of my left foot, as if all the little bones in my foot are slightly out of position. (This terrible pain in all the metatarsals down my left side... :-p ) It started last week after a long mountain hike, so I assumed it was just cos I’d done a lot more walking than I’m used to, and sure enough it went away by the weekend; but it’s now back and has been getting slowly more painful for the last couple days. It seems I’ve done something to it, but I can’t imagine what. It doesn’t feel like a pulled muscle, and I don’t remember doing anything that could have broken a bone – can you even break foot bones without realising it? Anyone have any experience of this kind of thing?
