How to learn how to play River Flows In You

How I did it: This one was actually quite tough for me (I've only had a keyboard and been learning to play again for about a month). I took the first 7 bars of the first page very very slowly until I had the pacing right, and practised them for about 5 days before moving on to the rest! Once I'd done this, the pattern kind of fell in to place for me and it was easier to committ it to memory.
I didn't even look at the last 9 bars until I'd learned the rest well enough, so this bit is still the slowest when I play it and needs the most work.
So I'd resolved to play this all the way through by New Years - slowly - goal achieved! I can't tell you how great it feels to play it, my only wish is that I had a piano to play it on rather than a keyboard (but I do love my keyboard). It's a beautiful song to have in your repertoire. Lots more practice needed for me to play it all the way through smoothly and with emotion, and also to have it memorized, but that will be enjoyable too.
Lessons & tips: Just keep at it, practice any difficult bits over and over very slowly until you get it. Also try practicing left and right hands seperately to get a sense of what both are contributing to the melody.

I’ve actually wanted to do this for a very long time now. I began learning it late 2008 but abandoned the idea after it got too difficult. I am now ready to learn again, but this time with more dedication and enthusiasm. Hopefully i will be able to play the whole way through one day.

Yiruma is really incredible!
I will admit that I never heard of him before Twilight… but I downloaded a few of his compositions. River Flows In You is definitely the best I have heard so far, but the others are amazing.
I downloaded the sheet music. I know the very beginning of it on the right hand.
I can’t wait till I can play it fluently!

What a gorgeous melody, I’ve just got a keyboard and this will be the second piece I’ve learnt on it. The first was ‘The Last Song I’m Wasting On You’ by Evanescence.
By New Year my aim is to be able to play it all the way through at a slow pace.
