I partnered up with one of the other medics, we hit the gym and lift weights 3 times a week, in addition to the usual PT we do in the mornings. Been doing this for about a month and I’m getting stronger and more cut. Hopefully by the time we deploy I’ll be stacked.

It was actually a great sunny day in washington today so I went for a 5 mile run. It was awesome! If only everyday was like this. I miss Cali.

Been working out a lot lately. In addition to our morning PT, I usually hit the gym after work and have started lifting free weights with one of my buddies. I’ll definitely keep it up so I can get stronger.

Well, I got assigned to an airborne ranger unit, so needless to say that PT is pretty intense everyday. In addition I usually hit up the gym during the evenings and go for a 4-5 mile run on saturdays, so I’m getting in pretty good shape again.

I’ve been very lazy (at least my army standards) for the past couple of weeks and it shows. My push up and sit up counts suck. I just got to my first duty station and enrolled in the gym. It’s right next door to where I’m temporarily staying so I’m going to hit it up everyday while I’m here.

So I’m tired of the same old gym routine.
I want to do fun activities to keep my body in shape. But fun things are more calm and sedentary, such as walking and yoga. Or they’re expensive, like rock climbing and snowboarding.
So I’m not going to be so regimented with my workouts this year. I am commited to doing yoga 4x/week (another one of my goals) and I’m commited to breaking a sweat every day. I have a gym in my apartment building so if I don’t workout I’m just going out of my way to be lazy. There are some weights, 2 treadmills, 2 bikes and 2 eliptical machines.
I also am going to make it easier to go by going in the morning (which ties into my goal of “wake up at 7am every day”).
This goal takes a lot of pressure off of me to do the same workout as everyone else. I’m going to be flexible and just keep my body active. I’m also eating only raw food everyday for the month of january (another one of my goals), so that will help me improve my body as well. If I like that change, I’ll keep it up indefinitely.

Army physical training makes a typical gym work out look like nothing, especially at Ft. Benning. Ft. Sam Houston is alot easier so I usually have to PT myself throughout the day and when I get some free time.
