Buggered Out
So much for this month…already broke down. However, in my defense, at least it was Subway and not McDonalds. And I had a veggie sub. I did get a Dr. Pepper, but the calibration on the machine was off so it tasted nasty and I didn’t drink it.
Guess there’s always next month :)

This is one of my spark goals. If I complete this I’ll be one step closer on another goal!!

Cuz it’s so damn convenient to just eat out. However. I think the monetary benefit will be obvious, and I know it’s healthier to eat at home. Whether or not this actually happens remains to be seen…

Two weeks plus.
Then Friday night hit.
Darling husband, on the way to the grocery store: “do you want to just go out to dinner on the way?”
Me: “oh honey, you know I’m trying to not eat out for a month”
Darling husband: “I’m not”
Me: “oh. OK”
Wow. That took a lot of convincing.
I wonder if a month is actually possible.
What is interesting is that we are willing to go two weeks easily. We have committed to only going out the once on Friday night every two weeks. Which we have done for a few months now. So had this goal read not eat out for two weeks, I would have met the goal many times over by now.
I think I’ll keep it for a while longer and see if we can get past that two week mark.

We accidentally fell into the pattern of eating at home for a week and what? Almost two full weeks without eating out (well, more accurately, cooking our own meals and not ordering in). Friday nights are our downfalls as that is our spooky movie and takeout night. We’ll see if we get through it this week. We made it through last week fine. I should plan a decent meal in advance – something already cooking on the hob so that we don’t go for the easy option once it is meal time. Wish us luck.

If you are married (as I am), you really need to have your partner on board with this goal. My poor husband loves to order in.
He is a fantastic cook. When we got married, the poor dear could boil water and that was pretty much it. I taught him to cook and he literally blossomed. He went mad – he’s an insanely good cook and I love it! So when he gets tired and wants to order in, I never say no. But in order to meet this goal, I am going to have to convince him of all the physical and budgetary benefits of preparing our own meals for a month.
This will truly be a challenge. I’m going to have to have “the talk” and see where he falls. If I can get him on board, I can report back. Well, I’m just going to have to report back regardless.
We will see where this goes.

I came close to going to Subway today, but I made it through.
High Hopes for the 15th!
