These are 6.5 m/21 ft open ocean racing machines. Not much US presence yet. World class racing on a budget, attainable for anyone willing to sacrifice all their time and life.
I’m thinking of getting a J22 for local sailing with my family. By way of training, if I could do long offshores in a J22, maybe work my way up to a Bermuda trip, at which point I could consider a Mini.
Not really a sensible thing for a guy with 4 kids. Most of my fantasies involve (temporary) escape, this is a version of it.
