celebrate my 3 years on 43

This rather small 43 was on a warning sign at the draw bridge across the Sloterkade/Schinkel. It makes me smile every morning. I wonder who put it there and why.

I’ve missed celebrating my 43-anniversary on and since the 17th because I was busy doing things, including some of my 43.
This weekend, instead of “hanging around” online (here), I was buying paint and painting equipment for the house, fishing sludge out of the pond, working the soil and planting new plants in the front and back garden.
My morale is up, up, up.

People often ask how one best uses the site to really do things.
After three years here, I can say that the ways I use the site are threefold:
*I list the things that I really want to do. I work on most of them, others are just nice to look at or motivators.
*I post here to vent my spleen and blog about things that move me, to have a laugh, to have a cry, to express myself.
*I use the site to socialise, to discuss important and silly things.

43things.com has made my life richer, as it provides me not only with a focal point for the present but also inspiration for the future.

I have been inspired by others to do many new things, and I think that considering this inspirational value, hanging around on 43 is not a waste of time, but of great use to go forward myself. The spirit and ideas of other users motivate me to develop myself further and grab the bull by the horns. Failures are discussed and analysed for their value. The world wide social network of like-minded people has now become a constant part of my life, and rather than taking people for granted, I try to actively take part in the lives around me to establish and nurture the contacts, if not friendships, that have formed.

There is a graffiti “artist” on the lose in Amsterdam who places 43s. I’ve noticed three, so far, one of which you can see here. If I have a camera with me, I’ll try to capture the others as well.
