Looking like the remaining portion will have to happen in summer. Too bad, I’d like to get it done. Oh well!

Spring will be tight, but if my supervisor can help me find a placement, it might work out. I’d rather do it in spring than in summer school – summer school has a shorter day so it means more days of teaching. Plus I guess if I had a license done this spring I could apply for a summer school job if I wanted – at least I would get paid to be there then! That’d be ok!

In a few minutes I am off to start my first placement at a 7th & 8th grade middle school. Excited! Would like to write more but I need to leave . . . :)

Who is the mother of one of my former students. I think it will be a positive experience – in a 7th & 8th grade middle school in the city. Worlds different than the largely homogeneous, suburban K-6 school I currently teach in. It will be 8 days in November. Should be good . . . I’m excited to get new ideas and work with different kids in a different setting, even if for a brief time.
Now I do need to schedule the one required observation with my University supervisor.
Thinking I’ll do the elementary portion in March if I can swing it (if enough hours are available given their spring break, etc.).

I potentially have a placement classroom, all that is left is for the principal of the school to approve it. Goody!

With the help of a lady at the U, I got registered with no penalty fees. That’s awesome. There could have been a lot of arguing and drama but she fixed it!! Now I just have to firm up a placement!!!

I planned badly. I let it go until the last minute – well, not planning the actual experience, but getting registered for the term. So now, I’m not registered and facing a late fee for registering for fall term. I might skip it this fall, because I don’t need to have this done and would rather save my $50 and do it in the spring/next summer. But also, I want to get this done! I went in to attempt to register and found out I’m completely blocked because I finished the degree portion of the program . . . so I’m going to get on the horn with my advisor tomorrow and see what she can do for me as far as access/permission number/avoiding the registration fee. I’m a little ticked at myself and also confused because in summer term, you could register into the actual term and not be penalized. So basically, I checked on this last week, saw that there would be a late fee, and it kind of just didn’t sink in that I needed to check on it pronto. And now it might delay me a lot. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

So this will wait until November and next summer.

to work with a small, small group over at Highwood Hills Elementary. Should be good. They needed some Spanish language support so he was happy to place me there. It will be nice to work with just a few kids and it will nice to have this out of the way.

so this is going to happen sooner than I thought. Goody!
