Family is good at doing that too. There are some things that they say that can roll off your back because they are not about moral decisions; just different opinions of child rearing and then there are some that really hit home. Things like: You need to get some direction in your life. You need to start being responsible for what is going on in your life. You need to get a grip. My folks had such a talk with us. Through that talk I learned a lot. I learned that it hit my husband hard. I mean it really pricked his heart. I learned that he has been struggling with this.
I have been dealing with depression lately. I’ve been pulling it back together with the help of my family and friends. However, I was so wrapped up in my struggles that I failed to notice how much my husband was struggling. How could I have been so blind? I love him more than I love myself! I need to always remember that the people that I depend on depend on me. I want them to be able to depend on me to see their pain and help them make things better. This is a life lesson that I want to carry with me.

“Say”
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems,
Better put ‘em in quotations
Say what you need to say [x8]
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you’d be better off instead,
If you could only . . .
Say what you need to say [x8]
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You’d better know that in the end
Its better to say too much
Then never say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say [x24]

At school a few years ago we had to do some pointless exercise where they asked us what we wanted in life, as a 14 year old I had no flipping idea, but they said we had to think of something. So I said to the teacher “I want to live, my whole life, until I die.”
He said that was great, but perhaps I’d want a little more out of life. So I told him ‘no’. He was a little peeved about it.
But ever since that is all I have expected from life, and when other people have asked me similar questions it’s the answer I give.
And hey I figure; so far, so good!
