How to give birth naturally

How I did it: Well I started off really early contractions that were not regular or painful in the morning, then I had a prenatal and she did a stretch and sweep on me contractions started although they were not painful or really even uncomfortable but I did feel like they were more regular, I had been having contractions for the last 2 weeks or so and I thought that just like the rest they would die down again later on that day and that I was just cramping because of the stretch and sweep, well it got to be around 8pm and I finally thought to myself well these are getting stronger and closer together so Ithink that maybe these are not going to go away, I waited a little longer and called my MIL, she said she would be over soon, I told her that they were not too bad and she didnt need to hurry, so she said ok, well by the time my MIL got to my house I was feeling them even more and they were getting pretty strong, strong enough that I felt like I needed to breathe through them and sway a little, I had spent the majority of the last 4 hours or so on my feet walking and swaying, so we went to the hospital and they were still there not unmanagable at all, I felt pretty in control of them so much so that laying down to be monitored for a while didnt other me to much but it still hurt more than walking around. I was check and I was 7cm! they admitted me and I went into a delivery room, they put the monitor on for about 2 or 3 minutes just to make sure baby was doing ok then let me stand up and move again, I had already puked twice (once at home once when I was getting undressed after checking in to the hospital) well I did it again and the midwife said I think we need to check you and see what your doing I think this could be it!... I didnt think so I didnt feel in enough pain to be fuly dilated and ready to go, but she checked and I was complete!! I was shocked my bag was still in tact and she said you want me to break this and we will have a baby?? I said Yeah but I knew that the pressure was going to hurt more with it broken, so prepared myself and she borke my waters, I was right the pressure was immense and I immediatly felt him move down I started to push some but feeling all of it hurt like hell, and I was apprehensive about pushing again I told myself that a few pushes and it would be over, well I pushed again and here came his head , it was burning like mad, and then the midwife noticed a hand up by his head, (nuchal hand) so she told me to slow down (which was NOT easy at all) and I tried then I pushed some more after she popped his shoulder out, and there he was born on Mar 17th at 11:45pm after a labour of only around 7 hours or so, he weighed 7lbs 6oz, ( I only gained 7 lbs all pregnancy long) and measured 21" long healthy and crying!!.. he nursed after about 40 minutes or so and hasnt stopped since! LOL I finally had the birth I wanted I laboured mostly at home and went in only when I felt like I had to, I was in the delivery room for around 1 1/2 hours before he was born! and it was just a great experience! one that I would do again (just NOT YET) in a heartbeat! for all those that would love to experience this I say GO FOR IT!! get a midwife and just go for it! Well I ma almost 39 weeks and I have a prenatal today I am going to get her to strip me as I think its time this lil one got his eviction notice!!! Im huge, crabby, achey and just plain ol fed up of being pregnant now!! LOL… Ill let you know how it goes…

Well I am 38 weeks now and since this is baby #6, Im kind of expecting NOT to make it to my “due Date” I have been having light contractions (like Braxton hicks) for 2 or 3 days now and I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow, hubby said that he thinks they will induce me tomorrow, but I have told the midwife its the VERY last thing I want to happen! so I dont think it will and since Im contracting on and off already I really doubt that unless there is something like High BP and Protien (like last time) in my PP I have a Doula that I am going to call when the time comes who is coming to my house so I labour at home as long as possible, so fingers crosse that things happen soon and I get to have the birth that I want!!!

Well, time has certainly flown! I am only 5 weeks away from my “Due date” and I really still feel unready! I am prepared for the labour and delivery Im just not prepared at home yet living in a small 2 bed apartment with 4 children feels a little overwhelming, Im sure that we will be moving eventually, but for right now we are going to have to “make do”
As for the pregancy, everything is going fine, baby is head down, as he should be, my Bp is good, my Weight gain is low which is good too, and he seems to be growing well. so now I just have to figure out where he is going to go and we will be set!!
I went into the hospital with every intention of delivering naturally, but alas! it was not meant to be. After having to be induced with pitocin (which I REALLY didn’t want) and then attempting to go without pain meds (which I did for 2 hours with only 30 seconds between contractions), AND after pushing for 2 hours, my daughter’s head was slightly tilted and she was just not going to emerge the natural way! So, I had a C-section, but it gave me my beautifu, healthy little girl, so I wouldn’t change a thing. Maybe next time….

Well OI had to go for another scan they wanted to see some parts of the heart they couldnt see on the last one, and everything like I thought it would be is just fine he is still definitely a boy! but he is also breech right now Im not too concerned as I am 29 weeks this week and I have got 11 weeks for him to turn but the only thing that concerns me is that none of them at this stage have been anything other than head down! so Im wondering why this lil guy ishead up well was head up Im not sure where he is now sometimes it feels like he is head down Im feeling alot of movement in my upper stomach. Well Im still planning on a birth as natural as I can get in a hospital setting, but if this lil one is still breech then Im going in pushing! I AM NOT having a c section Ive birthed 5 children with no problem I dont think that a breech child should be a problem either! well Ive got to go and get this messy house tidied up today.. Ill write more soon … wow only 11 weeks to go! it doesnt seem that long ago that I was writing 17 weeks to go! 6 weeks went fast Im sure the rest will too!

Well I thought that I would write today as since my last post things have revesed I was 17 weeks with 23 to go now Im 23 with 17 to go!!.. everything is fine baby is growing well, my BP is staying down, and Im keeping a close eye on it and if it raises a little making sure im destressing, with meditation, exercise, or something of the like to help.
I think right now at 23 weeks he is head up!! and hes got plenty of time to switch around, but it is something that Im a little concerned about Ive had 5 labours with baby in the right direction, Im just hoping this one cooperates.
but if now Im going to the hospital pushing!!! Ive birthed 5 babies I know I could birth a breech baby no problem at all!
ok well thats about it we are still deciding on names, and I am practicing my belly breathing whenever I get the chance!

OK so this time Im not giving in so easily, I know that I want to do this as naturally as possible, I want to stay at home and labour as long as possible, I was considering a home birth but with 3 kids running around our tiny apartment, it seems a little unrealistic plus I like having a break for 3 days while I recooperate! LOL
which I would NOT get to do at home especially with a Hubby with a bad back!..
So here I am 17 weeks pregnant, 23 left to go Im surprised that it is going so fast this time… I have an appointment on the 15th with a midwife and soon after that I will be having my 2nd US to determine that everything is in place growing properly and I find out what sex this baby is I have my fingers crossed for a girl, then I will have 3 boys and 3 girls!...
well I am practicing my belly breathing and deep breathing, I am also starting relaxation techniques, in the hope that it will help I just hope that I dialte some before going into hard labour, Im not planning on having a 12 hour labour again this time!!!

I dunno guys, I think chickening out on this one. As much as I’d love to be drug free and natural as possible, this sounds/looks like one it might be one of those times we should take advantage of medical advances. Just my opinion. I still have the utmost respect for those who go through it but…what if my kid has a huge head!?
Okay…so I didn’t exactly use this as my pregnancy journal like I said that I would. In fact, I’m already 6.5 months pregnant, and this is the first time that I’ve been back. Here is how I’m doing…
1. I’m doing pretty well with the vitamins.
2. Okay…not good here. I hate drinking water!
3. No kidney stones!
4. Midwife Center did not take my insurance, but I found a midwife practice that I love.
5. Physical condition is good.
6. See #4. Loving my midwives!
7. Pre-conception exam went well. It felt good to find someone who really supports my goal of natural birth.
8. Exercise has been hit and miss.
9. Taking temps might have helped. It took 4 months to conceive.
