RoniPip is on the road for the holidays...
Just went to another meetup and there were a couple of people who were new to the city. Actually most of the people, including myself, seem to be relatively new to the area.
It was nice to talk to people who were friendly and just looking to meet friends in the area. It was cool.
It’s a very different feeling from those who kind are already from this area, have their own cliques, and maybe “cruising” in a way (if ya’ know what I mean).
Things were more “open” and “fresh” as in a “no-strings attached” way which I like. Natural.
Made me think that maybe I should check out other meetups – for newcomers even (I’m still getting used to this area thought it’s been over 2 years). :)
I’m getting to the point where I can see the value of having a good pool stick of your own.
The stick I used last seemed too light for me and my shooting was thrown off a little sometimes.

Note to self:
When someone takes it upon themself to teach you pool while you play, say:
“Stop. I don’t want to be taught.”
All the guys play and are themselves. Occassionally, 1 guy may point out something to me to help me improve something. That’s cool.
However, to the women out there especially, have you ever noticed that sometimes a guy will make it a point to kind of take you under their wing a little and give you a lesson on how to do something better—and you didn’t ask?
You know what I mean.
And, yes, he doesn’t do that to any of the guys there. And I’m just as good as some of the guys there.
Granted, he’s a nice guy, but I just wanted to be treated like one of the regular pool players there. Why me? Know what I mean?...
So, next time, say “Knock it off.”
Yeah, that was kind of a vent above.
This morning, I told my co-worker that the guy seemed to take a liking to me. He responded with a reply of setting boundaries.
Sounds good.
Sigh. Yeah. That’s right. And all I wanted to do was play pool. Just play pool. With no strings attached.
Guess that’s part of life. The human X factor.

I’ve attended 2 pool meetups within the last month. The people are friendly and nice and I’m improving my game. :)
Some people were practicing their trick shooting that I saw on the learning pool video.
So, for one month so far, I’ve reached my goal of going out twice a month and meeting new people – via playing pool.

Went to the meetup and had a great time. People were at my level and above so I was able to improve my game. Woohoo! Cool, friendly guys, too.
At school, I’m doing a little better at the pool table, too. I’m slowly making my name known at the pool table. hehe. ;)

Found a pool meetup group to join – yay!
At school, I practiced for about 15 minutes by myself. It went pretty well as I hit fast without worrying about missing.

RoniPip is on the road for the holidays...
The first time I headed down to the pool table after teaching classes, my supervisor spotted me and asked if I was doing anything right now, and if not, if I could take over a class for a week starting … at this moment (they were in dire need of a sub).
Cool. More hours for me.
The 2nd time, after I finished subbing, I played teams with 3 other guys. They were all better than me, but were pretty nice about it.
I discovered 2 things:
1. The pool table at our school is kind of beat up. I never noticed until I watched the instructional DVD and read the book a few days ago. The book says to check out the playing ground first…
2. I need to practice my angles. Can we say “Geometry” or “Physics”?

Book: Picture Yourself Shooting pool. Comes with a DVD.
So far so good. It’s a brand new book (2009) and I checked it out from the library. So far, I’ve read/skimmed through almost half of it and watched the DVD a little.
I also checked out another book.
Should have a good start when I practice/play at the school next week.

Plan:
1. Get resources on how to play pool from the library. I’m going there today.
2. Fortunately, at work (a school), we have a pool table. I hope to play at least every other day 1 game. This will also help me be more social at school.
3. Go out and play pool at least twice a month. This will in turn help me expand my social network.

It’s actually pretty fun!
I never cared or really wanted to play it, but me and bros didn’t have anything to do whilst visiting godparents’ house, so we decided to play in their basement.
Awesome. (I’m kind of retarded with the poolstick sometimes though, haha…)
