just got back from the lowe alpine mountain marathon in scotland. learnt loads and plan to take this further, in preparation for my north pole expedition plans in the future.
How I did it: Posted to CFS Alert with the Canadian Military, 6 months at a radar station. I was automatically posted there as a soldier. We had duties to perform while we were there. It wasn't for fun. It took about 3 months of paperwork and checking out of the current base I was at in order to get cleared to go to the base. Security clearance was the toughest thing to pass. This is one of my goal since my childhood. To see the North pole where you have 6 months of day and 6 months of night.

well, getting to the north pole anytime soon is on the back burner, but I have some awesome other expeditions planned. Unfortunately my med school time table doesn’t allow any expeditions to the north pole because of the weather, but am involved with a great polar project and getting my expedition and leadership and fitness up to scratch. Then when I graduate med school in 2013, its one heck of a north pole plan!
i hear if you get in a helicopter and hover above the north pole, you can actually see the rotation of the earth

well, I’ve backed out of the expedition I was joining as there were too many frustrations and no autonomy. But, I think its a good move as its saved me a load of money and I’m joining a different organisation where I am in full control over my plans, dreams and goals. Also means I can fundraise for my charity and all the other people who dropped out of the previous expedition can now become one team on this new expedition. NOw to start training, meetings, and get ready for the expedition in March 2009.
Been very unsettling over the last few weeks and extremely frustrating, but such a relief to pull out now and start my own expedition plans..pheww!

well, this was all going to plan, but the organisation i’m going with are extremely annoying and i’m thinking of pulling out. Still, def want to go to the north pole, but I don’t trust these guys. Very annoying indeed!

start formal training in norway in january, going to be a busy year. really need to start getting fit and quickly or i’m going to find training hard and very miserable, especially with all me dodgy ailments! Need to start running and then start swimming most days and walking the dog more. putting on the 4 stone isn’t so tough, started on that aspect already.
also have to start fundraising and get some business cards organised, send one to people along with their christmas cards!!
so many ideas and going to be so much fun, must get a calendar sorted for christmas 2008. and don’t get annoyed with higher ups!
