but as with the bird goal, will keep posting.
Not really a good year for butterflies. I think I need to do some overwinter research and make sure I’m providing them with food for all their life stages.

So no big surprise here. Monarchs in the garden. They really are majestic.

Saw a couple of these recently. Very big and very pretty. Two were stuck in our garage the other day flying repeatedly into the window, so maybe not nature’s most brilliant creatures.

Isn’t that a really odd place for the dash in its name? Apparently correct though.
Really small. Just about an inch. We saw him in the herb garden and he was so delighted with the plants that we were able to identify him definitely.

Duh. I already knew that. But yesterday was the first time we saw one in the garden.
Wow, they’re big. Drank from the buddleia and the echinacea.

This is my best guess at what I’ve seen in our yard lately. Its a “Summer” Spring Azure. How is that for clarity.

Cabbage White

Alright this is a picture I found at a Wisconsin butterfly site, but it sure looks like all the little white butterflies in our yard. So I’m going with Cabbage White.

Either a Western Tiger Swallowtail or a Two-Tailed Swallowtail. And I can’t tell from the pictures what the difference is.
This is a picture of the former.
