I spent a lot of years running around in Mom clothes and not taking any time to dress up or do more than super-basic makeup. I think it gradually eroded my self-confidence. Now, my kids are all school-age or better, I am in a professional position, and am working real hard to upgrade my appearance. I got rid of my 1980’s disco-style hair in favor of a sleeker style that is more in keeping with the times and am just learning how to manage it…
Got immediate reinforcement for this today. I had some errand-running/drop off son for swim lessons mom stuff to do and contemplated just running out in my sweats. But I took a few minutes and threw on some better clothes and some makeup and lo and behold! ran into someone I knew. Made it so much easier to talk to her when I wasn’t self-conscious about how I looked.

i started doing this today…woke up early, did my hair, did my makeup, and wow was i surprised. every morning i pick up my friend to give her a ride, and the first thing she did was compliment me on how pretty i look. i was so surprised. i did not know what to say. i guess it does make a difference, even if i’m not trying to impress anybody or if im just going down the block for some eggs. lol.
i feel much better about myself today than i did yesterday :D
lets keep it up girls!

I dont take enough effort without myself, either Im incredibly lazy or I dont want to be pretty, but I do want to be, so I shall make the effort. For if we dont put our own best foot forward, whats the point?

i am failing miserably on this one – but i am not as bad as i used to be. I’ve started a daily face cleasing routine and i have to wash and blowdry my hair more often cos of work. (i do it every second day now instead of once a month!) but i still haven’t brought any make up. or learnt how to apply it.
Makeup costs moeny and i’m trying to save every penny!!!

Well since moving to London i have started to find this a lot easier. The hair bit anyways. ... It’s so cold i can’t leave the house without blowdrying my hair! And the difference in water has meant that i have had to buy a cleasener and moisturizer to stop my face from flaking off!!
