Finish the cross-stitch I'm making as a wedding gift

It’s been about a year since I first started this cross-stitch and I am still a very long way from getting it finished. Uni really put me out of action for a long while there. At this rate, it isn’t going to be done before their first wedding anniversary.

Nevertheless, I am determined to persevere. I picked it up again last night for the first time in a very long time.

I took this with me on my trip away and made some nice progress. It’s still slow, though. Perhaps I need to accept the fact that it is quite a complicated piece and that it’s therefore going to require a lot of time and patience.

This went on hold briefly while I was finishing up my assessment for uni. I dragged it back out on Wednesday night while the football was on and again yesterday while my sweetheart resumed his game playing.

The progress is much to slow for me, though. I think I need to make some time to sit down and concentrate on it.

Things continue steadily. I’ve been doing some while cuddled up on the couch with my sweetheart as he plays Final Fantasy XII. It’s a great arrangement because this way I get to find out the story without needing to play myself, plus I get some cross stitch done!

I also brought it along to the role-playing game I went to yesterday. Funnily enough, the boys never comment… I think they just accept it as a quirk of having a female gamer.

Still have a long way to go.

I made some more progress on this last night while Dad and I watched the football. It’s still so slow, though. There are a lot of other things that take priority (like uni work!) and I just don’t think I’m going to get it done in time. I justify it to myself by saying that my partner and I have already given another present to them for their wedding, but the truth is I’d rather have it done before they go rather than having to post it over to them after they’ve moved.

I’ll just keep at it.

It was difficult to find a pattern to suit the couple, but we finally settled on a lovely American Indian blessing on an autumn background. They knew that it would take me a little while and that it would probably be a late gift.

The wedding was back during the beginning of March. On closer inspection, the design turned out to be much more complicated than I anticipated. I wouldn’t be worried about this because, as I said, they knew it would be late. But now they’re moving across the country. In late June. I really want this finished before then.

I have a long way to go.
