Learning lots of languages is easier when you have a few as a base. After puberty it is considerably more difficult to learn a new language without full immersion unless you happen to be one of the lucky people who just pick up languages easily. =)
That said, the best way to learn multiple languages is to just go for it. Once you know one Romance language such as Spanish, the rest are relatively easy (Italian, French, Portuguese, Romanian, Catalan, etc.). Being good at pattern recognition helps.
The Internet is full of great online resources for language learners. livemocha.com is one I recently found which I’m using for help with learning Hindi.
Status and Progress

I have already finshed highschool Spanish and my 3-quarter requirement for graduation from UW. And the progress, new language. I will be starting my third quarter of URDU at the UW this Spring.
Multi-languages

Although, I’m already a multi-lingual and know how to speak English, a bit of Spanish,Filipino such as Tagalog,Cebuano,and Hiligaynon w/c is my native dialect. I would love more to learn languages like French,Greek, and some others. In that way, I would know how to communicate w/ different kinds of people. Now isn’t it kewl? yay! :-)
