Because we are only here temporarily I’ve decided that the mural is probably not so wise since it would take a lot of effort to do it right. So the alternative is to paint the picture onto a canvas. One day when we do have our own house I will definitely do a mural. I can commit to a painting though. It’s realistic and will still make a difference. Maybe even more than one painting if the first one comes out nice. I’ve also decided to add a twin bed since it’s where our guests sleep since SB doesn’t sleep in his own room and probably won’t for awhile except to nap and the pack n play is serving that purpose just fine. I also moved the changing table to our room since it’s usually where I dress him anyway (it’s warmer). Less furniture to match and clutter up the place so it’s looking better already.
On the list:
1.-new twin mattress to replace futon
2.-paintings
3.-possible paint on walls
4. shelf for books
5. smaller rocker/glider/reading chair

I think one reason I don’t want to transfer SB to his own room is that is doesn’t feel welcoming. He takes his naps in there but that’s it. We don’t go in there for anything else. For one it’s the coldest room in the house. Two, it feels unfinished. The mismatched furniture, the outgrown clothes, and something I can’t quite put my finger on keep me from feeling comfortable in there which makes me reluctant to take SB in there. It’s not a ghost or anything, it just doesn’t feel cozy or personal. Since we’ll be here for at least 2 years ( I hope) I think I’m going to try to paint it and figure out a different furniture situation. Trick is to keep it within a budget (very little dollars) and make it multipurpose (because this will also be where our guests will sleep (air mattress or bed not sure but I don’t want my dad sleeping on the couch when he visits.) This brings up the crib debate. Do we buy a “real” crib for our room or his room?
