Learn to hanglide

I have stopped and started this process, but I want to take it to the next level and be truly speaking and conversing comfortably in Spanish.

I’ve been dreaming of this since I was 6 years old when I discovered the ‘kites’ that flew over Fort Funston in S.F. They turned out to be hang-gliders and I was amazed that man could fly, even at that age and so beautifully over the ocean on the updrafts rising from the cliffs . I had just read Jonathan Livingston Seagull (one of the first books I could read) and was entranced with the idea of flight. Looking back at my drawings from that time, I was always drawing things that flew, from birds, to airplanes, to hot air balloons, to hangliders. This is the year I make good on that dream. It doesn’t matter what time it is, how long you have waited, how old you are – it’s not too late to make good on lifelong dreams or to continue to enjoy them.

I was a subcontractor for Kitty Hawk Kites a few years ago. I’ve been kicking myself ever since for not taking the time to learn while I lived with the instructors. Everyone is laid back and in tip top shape. Someday soon enough, I will learn.

So my husband and I bit the bullet and signed up for lessons. We went last weekend over 3 days and it was awesome! Only beginners level, but we really caught air, ad enjoyed it. Its harder than it looks with a 65 pound, 40 foot wingspan to control!
