finish the world's largest crossword puzzle

My grandmother always loved puzzles. I can’t remember a time when she didn’t have some sort of puzzle book within close reach. When I first saw the World’s Largest Crossword Puzzle, I knew that she just had to have it. So, I gave it to her as a Christmas gift in 2005.

Unfortunately, before she could even begin, her health declined. She died on Christmas Day this past year (2006), and as we were sorting through her house, my husband came across the puzzle we had given her. It is now on the wall in our apartment. Although it will take a long time to finish, I have taken on this challenge as a way to remember my grandmother.

well, it isn’t officially a goal of MINE, but I was hoping someone here could help. I purchased the crossword used for my mom who is a crossword fan and found out later it was missing the book! :( Does anyone know where i can get a copy of it? I would REALLY appreciate it.

DH and I put the crossword puzzle up in our kitchen’s dining area. Now I’m going to take this goal off my list and add crossword time to my FlyLady routines. Remember, I’ll come back and mark this as done once I’ve got my routines down.

Edit: What am I talking about? I won’t mark this as complete until I’ve finished it. Duh.

This goal is near and dear to my heart; it’s the reason I found 43Things. I’d like to keep doing it, but it will take years to accomplish.

I think I’ll handle this situation by adding this to my FlyLady routines and working on it a little every day or every week. But before I do that, I need to put the crossword back up on the wall. DH and I have decided to put it up in the kitchen’s dining area – the only place with enough wall space. As soon as I put it up (by 9/7) I’ll add it to my routines list and remove this goal from my 43Things list, like I’m doing with the other goals that are becoming part of my routines.

I don’t really have a good place to hang it in the new apartment. What I may have to do is keep it folded in thirds (width-wise) so it doesn’t take up as much wall space. Maybe my goal ought to be to finish that third by the time I move out of this apartment. It might be a do-able goal if I live here for a year or more.

Hmm. Something to think about.

This got packed up last week along with a lot of my other belongings. Let’s see if it gets unpacked at the other end of the trip.

DH and I worked a little on the puzzle last night, just a little. Hopefully we can commit to doing just a little bit each day.

DH and I worked on the diamond that we started last week. We’ve pretty much finished that section but toward the end there was a lot of looking things up on the internet! I think we found an error in the grid; the two words don’t have the same letter in the square that they meet. Well, I guess we won’t find out until years from now when we finish the puzzle and then start to check our answers.
