How I did it: Before beginning a session of writing on computer (or transcribing a session of writing I did by hand) I took note of the word count of the document. I then subtracted that number from the total I ended up with at the end of the session.
I used graphs to chart my progress by week, month and year. This allowed me to see the trends that formed across time and helped me to set realistic goals for my writing.
Lessons & tips: The most important thing I had to learn with this goal was to see the numbers as information, not necessarily as targets to meet. Yes, it was wonderful when I set myself a new record and I allowed myself to celebrate a little. But it was equally important not to get depressed if the numbers weren't as high as usual. Life gets in the way sometimes; it's inevitable. That's the time to ignore the numbers and move on.

I’m extremely pleased with this total since it is the best I have ever recorded for December. A few unexpected twists to the week left me with the means and time to do some writing. It feels very satisfying.

I managed to get some work done with my boyfriend on our collaborative effort yesterday. Since it is collaborative, however, I haven’t been counting it in my word totals. So zero it is!

Another excellent month. I’m very pleased with the progress. I think having a goal and steadily working toward it almost every day was very helpful. Soon it will be time to raise the bar.
But not for December. It’s traditionally a bad month for writing with so many other things going on. I’m not pushing myself.

Slipping a bit here. This week has been a difficult week, however. Nevertheless, I’m pleased that I’m still in the 2000 word range. I’ll see how next week goes. As the year winds to a close, I rather expect my totals to drop a bit.

I’m a tiny bit disappointed with this. I feel like I could have done even better.
On the other hand, it’s certainly better than a 0 count. I’m also pleased that this week’s count is fairly consistent with last week’s. I’m looking forward to keeping it up.
