give a recital

I got the chance to perform a piece in our group recital last Saturday. Yikes! It was pretty tough, given that I was solo and was attempting some largely improvised parts. But i’m really glad I did it….the feel of being up in front of people and singing into the microphone (alone!) was a rush.

I’m hoping to the next one in about a month (same piece). Which means more practicing!

So there are three recitals on the horizon.

December: Our semester end recital.

January 20th: Our “school” has a slot on a regular rotating schedule with other schools to perform at a community center.

TBD: My solo recital, by next summer.

This weekend I came up with a rough list of the pieces I will be singing. I have to put together my notes for these pieces and then started chipping away at practicing.

I think it’s time! I’m very excited about this and couldn’t stop thinking about it all week.

My teacher thinks I’m ready, too.

I’m going to plan for an hour long recital, with one short break in between. About 45 minutes of singing, YIKES!

Yay! After weeks of putting all my spare energy into practicing I can finally check this one off. I played two performances today and one to go Tuesday. There were some really nice sounds happening. I’m so very lucky to have the love and support of so many people.
I also promise to avoid ever again programming so many cheezy tunes, cause it looks like this performing thing could become semi-regular.

So not only am I working with fantastic enthusiastic people but we may actually be able to play a gig or two to cover any costs.
I feel motivated to work my but off.

Aiming for playing a joint recital with a friend mid-January. Need to hammer down the date and what to play.

Really I ought to plan one for the fall (Say… November) as well.

HAHA…you would have laughed to if you were there! Me with a violin!

Almost 200 people showed up. My bow didn’t fly into the audience. I remembered to wear pants.
