This week I walked to work, for the first time this year in fact. The weather has been unseasonably warm.

My socks were a bit thin, and I got a small blister. Oops!

    my commute 11 months ago

My commute is 3.5 miles, according to Google Maps. So this will not be something I do that often, and only when the weather is decent (non-rainy and non-freezing).

Probably I will walk home from work, not to, because I am useless in the mornings and can’t wake up much earlier than I already do (I take the train normally).

I walked to and from work today. That’s two days down and twenty-eight to go. It was a bit chilly, in the forties, but bearable.

Walk to work for 30 days over the next year 13 months ago

I live about two miles from work, so the walk is not difficult, but it is time consuming. When walking, my daily commute time goes from 20 minutes to one hour. However, walking is a good stress reliever. In contrast, driving increases stress levels.

It has been difficult convincing myself to add an additional 40 minutes of commute time to my day, when I have little enough time already. However, I can afford to do this once in a while – 30 days over the next year certainly seems possible.

Today was Day 1. I did the route faster than expected, at a pace of about 4 mph.

For the past couple of months I have managed to walk to work most days. Last weekend the battery actually died on my car because I’ve hardly been using it! This is well worth doing. I’ve lost a bit of weight, feel more relaxed and arrive at work fresh to start the day. Even when it is raining I don’t mind the walk!

I do this every day actually. 3 years ago

My commute is only 15 minutes. No car, no gas, no insurance, no maintenance, less worries.

I work in West Seattle now, and walking on the bridge is not allowed. I am doomed to get fat.

    I can’t anymore
:( This sucks, but it for the best the career is moving forward and I will just have to pursue the walking in other ways.

Did this one again...I love walking to work 4 years ago

Though I was really worried it was going to rain on me today.

I arrive for work so much less stressed 4 years ago

Driving (or even riding) in morning traffic makes me so stressed…I get impatient and frustrated…walking to work gets me there so much more relaxed…not to mention getting in a 5 mile walk in the mornings. (Not to mention the gas I save!!!) I’ve done this several times and plan to continue doing it as often as the weather and other factors allow.
