We decided to paint the wall a maroon color, which matches the Oriental rugs nicely. There are always little things left, like restaining the floors and the bookcase shelves, but the paint job may have completed the hallway.

I painted one wall that connects my kitchen and living room this dark shade of blue. The rest of the kitchen is pale blue, as is the hall and bathroom. The rest of the living room is beige.

I did this in high school... 2 years ago

When I handed my paint chip to the paint guy so he could mix it, he made fun of me. It hurt my feelings, but I consoled myself with the fact that he had to work at Home Depot, and I got to live in a blue room.

Finally did this. 3 years ago

Friends who are much better at painting than I came over this weekend and helped paint my wall blue (Ripstop Blue in particular) after months of hesitation, indecision, and procrastination on my part. I love the end result. My house is one step closer to looking like a restaurant/bar. Another idea given to me was to get a portable little bar on wheels. That would help tremendously I think. I woke up several times during the night and peeked at what the blue looked like at 3am, 5am, and 7am. Beautiful at all times so far.

The painter called. 4 years ago

The painter guy sounds great from our short phone conversation this morning. He’s going to go to El Greco and check out the color and match it for me. He may also buy my Lowe’s gift certificate from me since the paints aren’t going to cost anywhere near $500. Also, he said he’s not afraid of heights so there will be no fear of dying when painting the main big wall. I’m excited… but still wavering on the idea of the pink wall. Maybe orange instead?

Big blue wall, small pink wall? 4 years ago

I want it to be a big blue wall. Maybe with a huge avocado painted on it, or maybe with a huge persimmon, or maybe just blue. The blue I am thinking of is the blue of this restaurant in Capitol Hill called El Greco… it’s a strange bright (but not annoying) blue. I just called a painter guy today to see if he can come by and give me an estimate. I have a $500 gift certificate to Lowe’s so I wonder if that will come in handy for buying the paints.

In addition to the main blue walls (there are a few actually), I think I may want to paint one small area somewhere bright pink. Is that crazy? I think it might be fun to have a little crazy pink wall hiding somewhere. Maybe in the closet.
