    Doing well... 20 months ago

I now weight 212 pounds. My new goal will be to be below 200 by the start of Day Camp. Which is June 13.

Sub goal is achieved! 21 months ago

Wow! Weighed in this morning and I’m already there! Amazing. Now I will change the goal to 220 pounds (or less!) by April 4.

I know I have been doing very well at making better eating choices and AVOIDING fast food. But I will openly admit the medication is probably responsible for the rapid drop. The doctor said that would happen at first, then I’d hit a wall for a while and it would stop working. That’s fine. Just starting with a bang is very motivating. It would do my heart good to break out of the 200’s by the time Camp starts. In all honesty, I haven’t been under 200 since about 5 years ago. By then I’ll be getting all the physical exercise I could ever want…and at that point I’ll be fine just eating the diet the doctor recommended, avoiding my temptations, and staying active. Once I drop that first block of weight, I think it would be better, wiser and safer to take the rest of the weight off slowly.

Still, it’s nice to step on the scale and see it has gone down instead of up. That’s a change.

    Um, wow... 21 months ago

there it is. An actual number. No vaguery.

I am sad to think that I have gotten this heavy.

But at least I’m seeing this number on the way down, not on the way up!

I have lost 2 of the necessary pounds and have maintained my diet for 4, now this is the 5th, day.

I can see how hard this is going to be!

But, I’m going to do it!

Okay, this one has been “on” for three days. I got inspired by another 43 Thinger (Thanks alot, Duckienz!) to finally get serious about this weight loss and fitness thing. It’s time. I’m not getting any younger and from the way I have been lazing out after the baby was born, I’m not getting any thinner, unless I get serious about DOING something.

I decided NOT to go my usual fad diet route. Doesn’t seem to have worked over the long haul. In fact, even doing extremed diet changes doesn’t seem to make a difference…I just don’t lose anymore. It may be my metabolism. But, I certainly can’t keep anything I lose off with a fad diet. Time has told that story.

So, my routine is the time-tested one: Lower calories, increase activity. I am monitoring myself on a website. The site (www.fitday.com/WebFit) is actually quite motivating. I can look at my daily progress in a real, scientific way. None of this “I think I ate good today, I should probably be fine”. Nothing like looking at cold hard facts to keep you on the straight and narrow. Today’s little slip of motivation means I have to increase my activity that much more.

I have a simple goal of 1 pound every 3 days at first, while watching for better nutrition. My method is just work off more calories than I take in. Once I have lost an initial 15 or so pounds, I may get more aggressive on the exercise. I’m so much out of shape.

But the deal on weight loss and me is, once I fully committ, I usually lose what I want to. It’s the comitting that either doesn’t happen, or takes forever to work up to.
