two is the alkaline earth metals: Beryllium (Be), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Strontium (Sr), Barium (Ba), and Radium (Ra).
The photo comes from the Wikipedia entry on alkaline earth metal and it does not show Ra.
Radium has a low availability and is highly radioactive, making it toxic to life.

Sodium is also in column one ie it is an alkali metal.
According to the much derided philosophy of macrobiotics
the balance of potassium and sodium salts in the diet is the prime determinant of health
I’m not macro but it has influenced me.
Oh and Na has atomic number 11:)

left most column in the Periodic table represents the Group 1 elements and these are, with the exception of Hydrogen, the alkali metals. I don’t know exactly what alkali metals are but I’m not going to let a little thing like that put me off:)
Potassium (symbol K) is one of these and it must be found in bananas judging by the pic in the potassium square on my chart. It has an atomic number of 19 (the number of protons found in the nucleus of a potassium atom).
So I learned some more chemistry stuff today:)

is the most abundant of the chemical elements, constituting roughly 75% of the universe’s elemental mass. Stars in the main sequence are mainly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state.
In physics and chemistry, a plasma is typically an ionized gas.
Ionization is the physical process of converting an atom or molecule into an ion by adding or removing charged particles such as electrons or other ions.

The Guardian give away poster was the Periodic table of elements. Since I know nothing about chemistry I have stuck the poster on the wall behind my computer monitor in order to acquaint myself with it.
The Wikipedia is good for this kind of thing: Periodic table
