How to be in a play"Less than two hours at an audtion and two months of rehearsal SHOULD according to all and every scientific expirement, really suck for an eleven-year-old...but I've been in the business ever since! :D"
How I did it: I did a cutesy little stupid play at my school when I was in 6th grade and I was automatically in love with making all those people laugh. When my mom realized this she asked if I wanted to try out for Fairfield High School's Summer Theater program that was doing Oliver! that summer. I tried out and landed a spot as one of the townspeople. I was eleven. And I was an extra...And from then on I was hooked for life!!! :D Lessons & tips: Practice insanely for your audition and don't be discouraged if you don't make it or you don't land a leading role. Usually if you're not as experienced, it'll take you a while to make a speaking role unless you really blow them away at your audition, which not many people do. I mean, look at me. I did get a nice supporting role second time around, but hell it took me three years to get an actually leading role. Don't worry if you aren't Elphaba or Eponine at first. Keep up your work and the theater will eventually return the favor. Resources: www.cinstages.com and my music teacher have been enormous helpers when finding auditions in my area. And if you aren't lucky enough to have so much community theater surrounding you, look at your local drama club, or even talk to someone in the closest city. If you look for theater, it'll come I promise :) |

DragonSpike is releasing endorphins by being wierd and laughing a lot
How I did it: I joined a school provided Drama group, where we did two plays, A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist. I practiced at home as well as the weekly practices we got as a group. In this way I was able to memorize my lines and get into character faster than anyone else. Read how I did it…

desire to be on stage. I love watching plays and admire how brave the actors on stage are. i think it would really be fun and challenging to go through the whole auditioning phase. i would really love to complete this goal by the end of the year!
i’m going to start researching local plays and see what i come with.
I’ve been in a whole bunch of plays, back in high school. It was one of my absolute favorite things to do. I was Viola in Twelfth Night, I was Charlotte Corday in Marat/Sade, I love love loved every minute of it.
Now I’m at university, no theater acting is available for non-BFA students..kinda feels like a part of my soul is missing! I want to find a little shakespeare group or something. I can’t sing to save my life, so musicals are out.
Ribbet is sick. Oh noes.
I’m auditioning for a play at my school on Tuesday. Unfortunately, there are only 8-10 female parts, and about 20 girls are auditioning.
Hopefully I’ll get it!

Just joined the drama club at my school! Looking forward to going every friday!
Our first play is going to be A Christmas Carol, and the second Oliver Twist.
Wish me luck!

I performed in a play with my college theatre group. As per the original script, the character I was playing out has a decent role length but the importance & impact of it was marginal. However, I developed my character’s body language so well that it became the most loved character by the audience & mine became the only comical character in an othewise satirical play. The best compliment that I received was, “People start laughing the moment you enter the stage.” The play went to to become a decent success & we did a few ticketed shows of it as well.
The best part about being in a play? Actually there are many. To name a few:
The fun u have with ur team while rehearsing
The improvisations u do while developing the character
The applause. (Warning: It can be addictive :)
I had a tiny role in a play my church put on. It was a good experience, now I can say I did it! :D
Starryeyeddenise not all goals NEED to be accomplished just tried
I would love to be in this Christmas play! One of my favorites.
