How I did it: My daughter found a one day workshop at a glass studio in Atlanta. It was a fairly small group, only five of us, so we all got multiple opportunities to work with the glass, making a couple of flowers, a paperweight (that one involved some blowing) and finally a cup or, in my instance, a glass ball. The iron rods used to gather the molten glass from the furnace are fairly heavy, and it's a laborious process, especially when you are just l… Read how I did it…

It took a private lesson and it was awesome. I don’t have time for a full course or months on end as I am a mom and go to school already. The glass was so fun and one paperweight later..I felt creatively fulfilled and I can go back any day and learn more as time permits.
This is a someday. But oh, how I would LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUV to do this. It’s actually something I’ve wanted to do since I was really, really young, waaay before green entered my life.
My gosh, I would make EVERYthing! I bet it’s superexpensive to get started though.
So, between only completing half of a BFA in Art, before switching to Creative Writing, and my better half designing and restoring lighting fixtures, I think this would be an awesome ability.

I’ve gotten a lot of cheers for this goal. and i went by hobby lobby today to look at this 100$ begginers blowing glass set they have. It seems pretty legit to me, so i’m planning on buying it with my next pay check.

there are good glassblowing courses here in Canberra, but I’m a bit overcommitted (over43ed) at the moment, so might put it off for a while.
I’ve always been entranced by the thought of working with glass. I’ve worked with wire, paint, clay, and pencils, but never the smooth, slow-moving liquid we call glass.
I love Chihuly and decided to try glass blowing. The instructor was awesome.
