I had my first dentist appointment at a dental school because I’m making an effort not to spend all my mom’s money these days. My appointment was at 8AM. When I showed up to check in, six people were ahead of me in line. According to the sign-in sheet, they were all walk-in patients; according to the poster above the sign-in sheet, walk-in treatment is only for dental emergencies.
I’m glad I didn’t have a dental emergency. I probably should take better care of my chompers so as to avoid that fate. Filling the cavities is a step in that direction. So is getting my lingual retainer removed. Omg, it’s been attached to my bottom teeth since like 1997!!
Probably tragic: I overheard my student dentist ask about a girl she had seen for some sort of dental procedure or surgery or something. Another student said that the girl had been admitted to U-M Hospital that night to have surgery and they would try to do the dental procedure at the same time. I worry that she is a domestic violence victim. A woman young enough for dental students to call a “girl” has a significant problem with her teeth and the next day needs surgery? That is extraordinarily bad luck. I wish her the best.

That’s Step 1. You know, the very people profiting from the 2x/year cleaning recommendations are the ones giving the recommendation.

One dentist appoint a week, for three weeks! He filled four in all, plus redid a little on one of my past fillings. My mouth feels so healthy! XD

Kevin almost has his to-do list tackled!?
I did it! I accomplished this goal! I went in to the dentist yeterday, and he filled three cavities on my molars, and it didn’t even take any anesthesia.

Kevin almost has his to-do list tackled!?
but now I have a few more, and I really need to see a dentist! I was going to have it done before New Years’ Day, but then a lot of things came up, and now it’s two months later! Aah! I’m calling on Monday!

Not having your cavities filled leads to far worse—ROOT CANALS!! Better to get a prick of novocaine for an hour or two and not feel a thing now, than to have your mouth in excruciating pain later!

I go to the dentist at least once a year, this year I went twice for cleanings. Gotta maintain the grill. This spring I had all my old (silver whatever) fillings removed and replaced with porcelain. Much better, more pleasing to the eye and less likely for cavities to develop in cracks/pockets underneath the fillings (guess the metal ones are prone to such disturbances).
Dental work is spendy without insurance, so I try to take advantage when I have a job that offers it. Cleanings should be done regardless, and are usually pretty reasonable – an ounce of prevention…

i just had a huge cavity refilled… and i’ve got to go back for more.. i think it’s genetics, and also poor habits developed as a child.. my parents didn’t teach me good teeth habits, prollly ‘cause they dont have great ones themselves..
but my teeth are not all pretty and white, except for the new ones with fillings.. at least i dont need braces again.. oy!
(whitening teeth as we speak)
