    Worth doing! 19 months ago

I’ve been getting home early for the past few nights and reading or writing or just listening to music or (like last night) cleaning out my closet and finding clothes to send to Goodwill. It’s been … pretty freakin’ awesome to tell you the truth. I think now I’ve realized how nice and non-boring it is, I’ll definitely do this more often.

    Lesson learned.

Alone time can make you feel better...who knew? 20 months ago

I was at home in bed reading at 11:30 last night. I could hardly believe it. I haven’t been in bed before midnight on a weekend in months, but there I was, and it was fabulous. I bought IV by Chuck Klosterman the other day, and I couldn’t wait to get into it. I made it about halfway through it last night, and I actually had to force myself to put it down so I could go to sleep at 2.

Alone time = reading time = happy Melissa.

I've had enough of this "alone time" crap. 22 months ago

I’ve been coming home straight after work this week in order to be alone and get in bed and spend time by myself and actually sleep and it is driving me INSANE.

New Guy comes home tomorrow at 3:50. I’m working half a day and then I see him and then it’s just me and him til Saturday when he goes back to work.

I’ve discovered that I’m meant to have alone time in small doses. Lesson learned.

But I have been catching up on my sleep, so at least I look fresh (and not dead-eyed like I was).

I wanted ALONE TIME, not LONELY TIME. 22 months ago

This morning, I took New Guy to the airport. He’s at a work conference in Las Vegas until Thursday. Here’s the perfect opportunity for some alone time, right? Yeah…except that now I feel more “lonely” than simply “alone”.

So for the next four nights, I’m going to read and paint my toenails and write (and pretend to not be waiting on the phone to ring…damn it). It’ll be good for me. Really, Melissa, it will be good for you.

    Pfft…

Screw alone time. I can’t wait til Thursday.

Me-time is awesome. 22 months ago

With work and New Guy and friends, I find myself losing ME. I’m used to a more than average amount of alone time, but lately, it’s been zero to negative alone time. (And yeah, negative alone time IS possible. Just don’t think too hard about it.)

Tonight is all for me. I’ve got a book, a movie and some peppermint tea. It’s all good.
