own a cabin in the woods

I know I don’t make much as a teacher, and never really will BUT I will one day own my own cabin. It may seem silly but it’s been a dream of mine for a while. Hey, but that’s what this site is for-dreams and goals. I figure having the summers off works great for having a cabin because in AZ, up north, it‘s gorgeous in the summer. I even have a site bookmarked for specific places in AZ up in the woods like, Pine, Strawberry, that area in general, to keep an eye out on the market. I figure, once I get bills paid like credit cards, I can start my build my dream towards a cabin. I’m sure there are others that have goals like a place on the beach but the woods is sooooo calming to me and hearing nature like the elk, birds and more is just like heaven to me. I want to do this for myself, my family and my parents. I want to take them up there, enjoy our time together and it only be a short 2 hours or less, be in a sublime little piece of our very own. I’m not looking for anything extravagant by any means. A simple 2 bedroom, one bathroom with a kitchen and living room works perfect. I want to paint the inside, make it my own, fix it up, everything.

but who knows…I may love it so much, I’ll move out of the big city into my little cabin in the woods permanently! Nice thought. Isn’t this a cute cabin! One day…..

I did it!
I bought a cabin in the woods.
Not in norway, as I would have liked. But in the crowded Netherlands. It is more practical…with me living here…

Now a whole new branch of things to do opens up: create a space fot bees and butterflies; accomodate more birds; plant apple-trees; relax and read a book.

we almost bought a cabin with a large peace of land. Since it was very expensive we considered buying it together with a friend. He has a 2 year old daughter and I would love to walk with her in the woods. And bake cookies in the cabin.

However, we could not agree upon arrangement of the sleeping quarters. Me being an architect (and thus being right ;) and this friend being conventional and very stubborn.

So now my fiancee and me are looking to buy a place just to ourselves. We are looking at some places next week.
And the friend with the daughter is very welcome to visit :)

Added 1/6/06. I have wanted to do this since my Dad bought a lot in the woods when I was a kid. I live in the perfect place to make this happen, but I need to come up with the money. I am sure it wil be awhile, but someday it will happen.
