How I did it: Well, I'm a quick learner, and I have a good musical ear, so I learned to play by ear rather quickly. Unfortunately, I could only play with my right hand, and trying to use my left was a pain. Then, a few years back, I went to a week-long piano camp over the summer, and one of the counselors there taught me how to use the left hand. At the end, I learned to use both hands rather easily, and even (accidentally, I might add) composed a song… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Back in second grade, I had never even thought of learning an instrument. My mom signed me up for lessons at my elementary school, and I loved it. I practiced so hard and there were times where I felt like I wasn't improving at all, but then there was a moment where everything just clicked. I finally gained confidence in my playing and it all went uphill from there. Even now after so many years, I constantly feel myself growing and transf… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Learn what piano keys are what notes in the twelve-tone scale. This is a fairly simple step. Then, learn your keys (scales, not the physical keys on the piano) and chords. The best tool for this is the circle of fifths. Memorize keys and their signatures with the circle of fifths.Optional, but highly recommended, step: Learn a thing or two about music theory, with a teacher or with a book. This may take a while but it is really worth knowi… Read how I did it…

I want to be able to learn piano and play some of the greatest piano pieces of all time.
I’m going to practice 5 days a week for 1 hour and one day get piano lessons….....AGAIN :-)
i’ve been terrible about making time for music in the past month, but did sit down at the piano a couple of times this week. i always forget what good exercise it is for my fingers. i can feel them get stronger and less likely to be injured by typing at the computer.
I can play the piano..but I don’t think I have accomplished this goal because I can’t read sheet music lol :P I just watch youtube videos and learn to play from there :) I’ve drastically improved in my opinion :D
i put in some good piano and score reading time during my two weeks off (the christmas oratorio is terrific!). i need to keep it going as i slip back into my usual routine and todo lists.
perilisk kinda never sleeps... sigh.
My new flatmate brought a piano in.. I want to start teaching myself from January on…. For 6 months at least ! When I get to Australia, I’ll try to get lessons…
i only managed to be at the piano about every third day this week instead of every other day. the time i spent there was wonderful, though it was starting to overload my arm muscles. i need to keep spreading it out to a little each day instead of a lot two or three times a week.

WillDante asks,
“Hi I'm Will (16). I recently bought myself a keyboard, and bought a book to start learning. It's been about 6 months, and I still have difficulty reading sheet music well. I don't have the time/money for lessons, so do you have any suggestions?”
