volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter

My sister offered to give me a weekly ride to the shelter until I get my driver’s license, so I could start volunteering soon. But I’m not emotionally ready to do this.

You see, one of my dogs died in January and I don’t want to put myself in a position where I’m tempted to adopt a dog that isn’t right for me.

Once I get my next dog, though, I’ll be happy to volunteer.

I would love to work directly with the animals (“animal care technician”), or do adoption counseling, or both. Some of the shelters in my area offer paid positions, which would be a dream come true.

Of course, if I couldn’t get a job at a shelter, I would be happy to volunteer. :)
