BrittaP03 It is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
once it’s gone you don’t even miss it. busy enough with work and stuff…
How I did it: Called the cable company and got rid of the cable and the cable internet. The funny thing was that no one at the cable company tried to talk me out of it and so it made the process easier. I also figured up the money I would save - $1,080 per year - and that made the decision so much easier.
Lessons & tips: Think about all of the other things you could do with your time and money. Plus you can rent TV shows from Netflix for way cheaper and avoid the commercials.
Resources: Nothing, just common sense and some math.

Starryeyeddenise not all goals NEED to be accomplished just tried
I purposely turned of my cable for a whole year and it was the best year for my life!!
I just got off the phone with the cable company and I’m shutting off cable and internet for 3 months. Mostly it’s to save money, but I really do watch too much tv right now, and I need it gone. I’m sure I did the right thing, but it’s weird to think that I’m not gonna have cable or internet for three months. How awful is it that i’m apprehensive to be living without them for the summer?
CillaJenkins is trying to start the new year off on a positive note.
For a while, I wasn’t turning on the TV more than twice a week. Lately, I’ve been getting sucked into either Law & Order or CSI for 2 hours a night. This is such a bad habit. I need to just cut it off. I don’t know what I’m waiting for.
One of the happiest days of my life was when I called the cable company and cancelled my service.
Of course, this is only because I switched to satellite. But I’m still happy that I’m not beholden to our local cable company and their ever-increasing rates and ever-decreasing customer service anymore!
a trip it would be if 1000’s of people took a week off from TV – I don’t believe that all would remain ‘unplugged’ and live thier own lives (as opposed to a 2nd hand life) – but it would be a start. Big cheer to cmoursler!!!

we got rid of our cable IV to the world one year ago. The benefits have been amazing. We have more time for just about everything. To be unplugged from the “buy more, buy right now” world has been exceptionally freeing.
We watch what we want by renting or getting it from the library, perhaps once a month. Turn it off, throw it out, live with your thoughts and conversation with others!
I now am cable free!
However, I did just sign up for Netflix. I listen to audio books. I use YouTube for some entertainment and plan on getting rabbit ears to pick up a few channels on the TV…like local news, PBS, etc.
The few shows I do enjoy, I can get from itunes if really want them.
Otherwise, I use Netflix for obscure movies/shows I enjoy.
Yep!
Four years ago I moved into my house and forgot to get the cable conected. I miss the history channel, and HGTV, but not much else.
