PHYSICALS…
Several years ago I had to have a physical and when I went into a room to undress and slip into a garment, the doctor came in and asked if it would be okay if the new assistant could do the exam. I didn’t have a problem with it – they have to acquire hands-on experience somehow. The woman was early twenties I would say (21-22). Everything was moving along swimmingly until it came time for the hernia check. She asked me to drop my shorts down to my knees and that’s when I was expecting she’d put on the surgical gloves and do the turn your head and cough routine. Well, she did but she didn’t bother with the surgical gloves. That’s when I thought, hmm, they’re going for the personal touch these days. LOL Bet later on in her career she has caught on to the fact that ALL doctors, nurses, and assistants use gloves with this procedure. :-D
Now, on to today’s adventure. Same scenario, but this assistant was much more timid. I could tell that this was really her first time doing the exam. Of course I went with the flow and gave her slack. And when she referred to the table in which I was seated as a bed, I didn’t smile too wide. ;-) However, when it came to the hernia exam I don’t think she was ready for that, so the doctor had to come in and do that. And while I dropped my shorts and did the turn and cough routine, I looked at the assistant out of the corner of my eye and saw that she was looking AWAY. LOL It was all I could do to not laugh…really.
Great stuff those exams!
And no hernia! Yes!
