After more reflexion, I think it is because I have a mission on Earth. I feel that I am here to do something good, to accomplish a lot. I might not be the one who will change the world, but if I could change at least a part of the world, or even one’s world, that would be more than great.

Seriously, when I will die, I want my life to have meant something. I dont want to leave knowing that my presence did not change anything

I’ve been taking care of my nephew a lot lately. He’s just turning two and I can only hope he’ll remember some of the times we’ve had together. Watching him grow and change from a baby into a little person who talks to me, asks me questions, watches cartoons with me, helps me garden…its enough to melt away any bad feeling I have.

A few days ago we were outside “working” in my garden. I say “working” because I was just potting some plants and he was “helping” by using the little shovel and hand rake I bought for him to transfer dirt into the containers. I noticed him make a weird face – I check to see if he’d hurt himself, pooped his diaper, the usual – and I see that a ladybug had landed on his arm.

He was a little distressed by the little thing crawling on him, so I took the little ladybug into my hands and kneeled next to him and said “This is a ladybug. Isn’t she pretty and red?”

“Lay-bug.” he replied, pointing.

“LaDYbug”. He corrects himself after I annunciated the word – “LayDEEE bug.” He watched the little red beetle crawl on my hands with a kind of interest that you don’t expect to see from a 22-month old child. He watched the ladybug crawl around and rest and crawl more for more than three minutes before it flew away, and he said “Bye bye!”, giving the bug a little wave as it paused near our faces before flying away into the greenery again.

He’s so tiny and I doubt he’ll remember these little things once he gets big, but I can hope – and who’d have thought that my little nephew would do something I’ll remember him for at such a tender age?

please not something that’s embarassing. I hate those conversations that are like “Remember the time Mariah fell down the stairs in front of EVERYBODY?!” and they all laugh at me. Just ‘cause I’m more clumsy then the average person does not mean that I need to be ridiculed for it! But even so, I’d rather be known as the girl that tried and wound up embarassing herself somehow then the girl that just never did anything.

Went to eat with my parents the other day to a downtown restaurant.

As I walked out of Mi Tierra, our waiter stopped me and handed me a Mexican cookie from their bakery wrapped in parchment paper.

“I’ve had the worst day today than I’ve had in years; you said “please” and “thank you” and were so polite; it made me feel much better.” I thanked him and told him to take care.

I wondered what made his day so bad, as I ate the cookie.

I danced at a friend’s engagement party, because she looked more anxious than I was and was holding my hand and dancing with me anyways. I loved her in that moment and hoped she knew what I was doing was costing me mentally, hoped she’d remember my face and me accepting her hand.
