finish at least 7 paintings so I can submit them for an exhibition in a public place, like a local restaurant

So, I’m going to finish my 7th painting this weekend, and then slow down. I am changing this goal to 7 paintings. I want to see what results I get when I start to submit them to local venues in my hometown. I think I need some positive feedback to keep my momentum going. I’m sitting here, wondering if all of this is just going to fall flat on its face. If so, I have 7 paintings I can give as gifts!

It’s quite large…48” x 24”. I have completed 4 so far. I’m addicted, a paint-o-maniac. Housework be damned. I’ll live with the cat hair.

Now that I’m in between contracts, I have time to make art. I completed a 10”x10” painting, and a small print of a rhino with a bird on his back. I’m really enjoying this, and wouldn’t it be great to make a living selling my work? But the term ‘starving artist’ was coined for a reason.

I’ve ordered a frame for the work I made for G, and now I’ve started a larger painting with tissue paper glued on the surface for texture. I have an idea of how I want it to turn out, and that’s the challenge.

I gave G his birthday painting…a pattern of geometric shapes entitled “As Good as Gold” and I think he liked it. I’m ok with it, but I can’t wait to try something much more expressive and less anal. I’ll post a photo of this one when I get a decent frame for it.

I bought some more canvases and paint on the weekend. I’m going to start a painting this week, use the easel G gave me for my birthday (not the last one but the one before). It’s taken me this long…bad girl.

Tonight I’ll take more orchid photos…one of them is still blooming and I’m so excited. I wish there was more time in the day to do all of the creative things I want to do.

I made a work of art for G for Valentine’s Day and it didn’t turn out the way I hoped. I will redo it. I put so much time and effort into it, but I would hate to see it hanging on the wall. Blah!

My brother gave me a Nikon 8.1 megapixels Coolpix P4 for Christmas! It’s perfect timing for the trip to Mexico. I took a few shots through a window at dusk at the B&B G and I stayed at for New Years, with my camera in view to mail my bro. I wanted to get the reflection of the room, and the line of trees and snow outside. I’ll see if I can post it. Hope to frame some of my better photos I’ll be takiing and hang them in the house, maybe in the office I share with G.
