letting it go 17 months ago

Yeah, it doesn’t look like this is happening. Also, I’m a bit more interested in other fields now, such as public policy, so although technical writing is still something I’d like to do if the opportunity presents itself, I’m not searching for it.

trying a new angle 2 years ago

Well, I still haven’t met this goal, but not for lack of trying… I’m attempting a new angle – applying to non-profits for coordinator and advocate positions as they ask for people who can write and communicate…which is what I want to do. I applied at two this past week, one that I’ve been volunteering with, and another that’s a big organization in my area… wish me luck!

didn't happen today 2 years ago

I’m kind of sad at the moment b/c i just found out i didn’t get a job i really wanted… they sent me an email saying i had the qualifications but other candidates had scored higher, so i was out of the running. I thought i hadn’t let myself get my hopes too high about this job, but i guess i did. sigh...

I've always written 4 years ago

I started out as a journalist and ended up as a Web/computer writer and Web designer of sorts. I think it’s difficult to break into any professional writing gig just because you want to, but it can be done. Your writing samples are very important. I suggest interning at your city magazine and writing for you local newspaper, church bulletin, anything…just get started and then keep shooting higher. Even maintaing a blog where employers can see your tone and style is great.
