I do enter books here and there and I’m actually down to the last dusty throws of a few shelves to call this one complete.
However, this is now tied into the back-room remodel – because I want to move a lot of those books upstairs once those are done.
It stays on the list, but with major stink eye because I need to get this finished! 3 years ago

And entering them as I go along while I’ve had the extra time. I found my old copies of Bloom County this week! And some dust bunnies. :)
I’d really like to build more shelves in the back room, but that’s a way-down the road project. I’d like them to be built in around a new fireplace mantel, so it’s a pretty big project.
Oh, collections? Still a week or two away! :P Well, at least it’s in Beta testing right now. Although I can’t be too cranky, I did snag another Early Reviewer Book! I got Patient Zero – a zombie book because I have other zombie stuffs in my catalog. I’m looking forward to it when it arrives. 4 years ago

So that feature called “Collections” is really going to be released a week or two from now and that will help things immensely. Yay!
But one of the more entertaining time sinks of late has been the updated Memes page.
(I think you can link to mine.) At this point, not only can you see books I share with only one other user and the books I have more than 1 copy of (sometimes there’s a logical reason, but you can also see how many of my authors are still living and how many are women vs. men – there are a number to track down birth & death dates for as well as to fill in sexes for, but the community has been really busy.
I’m sending husband down for books now… 4 years ago

And I did get a basket of books from downstairs entered…and there are more to go.
I’ve also been making sure that I enter and tag books I check out from the library since our library doesn’t keep records of your library checkouts. (That may seem odd, but ever since the Patriot Act came down, most libraries dump records to protect people so they can’t be used against you later in sweeps of, “please pull all of your records of people that checked out books on pie baking, eastern religions, tennis and cat breeding as we feel those are the reading lists of trouble makers!)
Turns out a new feature is right around the corner – collections – so I’ll be able to keep the library stuff separate from my stuff.
I also scored in the Early Reviewer program again and got a book called Gomorrah to read on Naples’ Organized Crime System. It’s not so much “early” as it is the paperback copy of the book to coincide with the release of the film,” but I’m good with that! :) 4 years ago

But more books to go!
I’ve gotten over 1600 books entered so far – well it is mine and husband’s books and that is a lot of books to collect over the years. This year I’ve been using the library more, but I’m also entering those in LT more often (using the tag @library pending the collections feature that will allow me to keep those a bit more separate).
I don’t know that I’ll have it done by the end of the year, but I’m definitely seeing more of a light at the end of the tunnel. The remainder of the books are on a few more shelves (very dusty – very, very dusty) and in crazy boxes.

And I’ve scored another Early Reviewer book this month – I’m very fortunate.
I’ve also stumbled into the time-sink that’s helping with a feature LibraryThing calls Common Knowledge. Basically, it’s all sorts of interesting things about books and/or authors – everything from character listings to dedications to blurbers to awards. I get a little OCD about things and they begin to spiral out of control and all of the sudden, I’m a top-10 contributor for CK facts at over 8,000 per the Zeitgeist Helper page today.
I found one of my early college textbooks today. It was kind of fun entering some of the information. The epigraphs were fun. Details can be found on LibraryThing

SCORE!
LibraryThing has an awesome Early Reviewer program. Basically, they get books for review from publishers and you say which ones you’re interested in – this goes on for a couple of weeks. After everyone’s requested books, they run an algorithm against your library (and everyone else’s) to find good matches for the books.
All I have to do is write a review in return.
Some months you’re lucky, some months you’re not – but this month I snagged Dali & I – how cool is that?
I really do love LT most days. =) 4 years ago

But I’ve only been keeping up with new purchases of late. I’m pretty sure I’ll be finishing this up in the fall or winter. There’s too much to be done outside without lugging boxes of books upstairs.
It’s still on the list, it’s just going to take a bit longer than I thought. And that’s okay. I did add some venue photos to their Local feature today, so I’m still being an active member of the community. I’ve slowed down on the Common Knowledge contribution, but that will also pick up in the fall/winter as well. 4 years ago

Going back through and updating descriptions from books – either flap descriptions, back of book or intros.
Also updating tags.
=)
This book pictured inspired me to put in some traditional Chinese characters in the description field. 5 years ago

LibraryThing.com is very addictive and I’ve only scratched the surface. I haven’t entered my entire library mostly because I’m cleaning up what I already have (verifying covers, tags, putting in comments, etc.).
Love the site – and I’ll get there!
