Labash shanti shanti shanti...
i come from a home where we always had pets and definately a dog or two of them. when i moved out of my parents to my own home iit felt not like home with no pets at all. it had been a while that i lived on my own. i had a distant relationship so i spent most of the evenings by myself.
a tragical thing happened – my childhood best friend was murdered in one of those stupid American killings. i was alone and my phone rang at night with the news. it broke me down completely. i couldn’t sleep nights, i had some unbelievable fear of darkness, stayed with my friends for a week as was too scared of being alone. i was devastated.
my boyfriend was away at that time and he organized that my friends look after me and sent me a huge buquet of flowers as a surprise. somehow i mentioned that the best surprise for me would be a new puppy.
there is an animal shelter just across the street from where i live so my friends took me there. we chose the puppy but i still had doubts. so we left him there till my boyfriend came and then we went to look at the puppy again. we had thought of a name for it already and all.
it felt absolutely great to adot the puppy. of course it was tough to train him and all.
after a couple weeks my boyfriend left to ireland again and guess what! i was not afraid anymore. i had to be brave for me and for the puppy. it’s been nearly a year now. and we had our ups and downs, we lost the boyfriend by now even. but lygis and me are the greatest team ever!
it’s absolutely worth it to rescue a dog.

We found Gretchen through Dachshund Rescue of North America. http://www.drna.org/ She was 7yrs old and very well trained! Her “mom” had passed away and her “dad” was going to a retirement home and couldn’t keep her. There was a possibility Gretchen had some health issues and was a bit overweight, but we loved her at first sight and had to have her! She is the most loving dog and gets along fantastically with our 14yr old dog. We can’t imagine life without her now! We were so lucky to get her! There are so many dogs out there that need a loving home! I hope you can find room in your heart and home for one!

I would LOVE to rescue/adopt a dog or cat; I absolutely adore animals and I’d love to give a homeless animal a nice, warm home and a lap to lay in. =]

So, she’s doing really fine at home. By now she’s Miss Cuddle-Me-Much, although only with Jaime and me. She’s still a bit shy with other people, but that’s ok. After all, she’s supposed to watch out and guard as well, right?
Frida and Molly have begun to have funny dog fights, no noise, just jumping and rolling around, maybe biting ears just a little bit. Probably there’s a bit of ranking fight involved as well, but it’s cute to see. Hey, we even switch of the telly when the “dog fight” begins. It’s so calming and funny to see.
Anyway, here’s a photo of the two putting on their “please-give-me-some-instead-of-her” faces. :-)

Poor thing. Not a good car rider. Vomited the whole way home. but a very calm puppy who is interested in things but not too interested. He got home sniffed around the house, drank some water, and is now sleeping intensely, after all, it was a big day for him. He’s so blonde and fluffy. I am amazed. Unfortunately with his vomiting and such, I have not gauged his personality well enough to get a name…

Soooo excited, and of course a little nervous.
It’s going to be great to have a canine companion again.

for my new whats his name, Got the Crate, some Neutro, the puppy Kong, Peanut butter, and a bouncy red ball and leash and collar. Only problem is that my last few dogs have been short haired, so I sort of forgot the brush/comb etc….Will have to remedy that soon.
Now I have both the cahir and the darn crate to put together…Fun afternoon….

It’s been almost two weeks now with little Molly and everyday there’s something new. She’s doing huge steps, yesterday she licked my arm – I think she copied that from Frida as well. On Thursday was the first time she approached me and let me cuddle her, usually she took off and watched me cuddle Frida from the distance. But I can cuddle her when she sits near a wall or a plant, probably gives her some reassurement. What else? She threw out Frida of her doggy house and Frida slept outside in the yard for 2 nights, something that bothered me, but then I washed the blanket that was inside and Frida recovered her house. Can you believe it? Last night when we got home in the middle of a thunderstorm, both of them came out of Fridas house, but then later on Molly went to hers and Frida remained in her own. Things are going great. Last night we also watched Frida trying to play with her, another first. Geez, I wonder now what’s it like having a baby, it must be so wonderful observing every day!!!!
