I started playing on a co-ed softball league with some of my friends from high school. While it’s not as intense as the fastpitch I used to play years ago, it’s still a hell of a lot of fun. It’s encouraged me to start working out again, and I have been able to bond with old friends. It’s a great time. I highly recommend it.
Even though I am older, the competitive edge is still there..

I joined an Alameda Adult League with my friends from high school. It’s slow-pitch, co-ed, once a week—so A LOT more chill than I was used to playing in high school. But, it’s great fun, and an excuse to get out in the sunshine for a couple of hours every week. It feels great.

My rehab is going alright. I have ~99% of my range of motion back but I still need to build up a lot of strength in my quad and hamstrings. My physical therapist said that my leg’s a little weak, and I was pretty disappointed to hear that, but I’ll just keep working.
I hit a real softball for the first time this week!! Since we’re now practicing outside all the time now I’ve been running around a lot more, and it’s great. And, the team is 15-4 since we just swept Coast Guard on Saturday!!

Well me knee hasn’t been feeling too great, but today I got to stand in against a pitcher (not really hitting) for a long time today while we were practicing defenses. I’ve also been throwing a lot lately. Things are looking up, plus my team is doing well. We’re 9-1 so far.

I had surgery on Jan. 3, and I’ve been doing PT for a while. Softball practices started on Wednesday, so I’ve been going, but all I do is more PT or lift weights, pretty boring. I’m not having much trouble getting around anymore, but I still know that I can’t do anything with softball for a while…
It’s hard to find the line between being a part of the team and being the injured girl. I try to amuse myself at practice. Thankfully my coach doesn’t expect me to be everyone’s bitch, which I think will help me come back next year, but I still get bored. We’ll see how practices keep going.

My sophomore season is shot, and I’ll be getting surgery right after New Years hopefully. My goal is to be ready for fall practice come September. I’m going to rehab Monday-Friday to get my leg in shape for surgery. I think this goes hand-in-hand with “Be more disciplined.”
