practice the piano

My piano is at home in my parents’ house, so it is not possible for me to practice right now, but I never do when I go home anyway, and I want to change that. This is also tied in with learning how to drive, because I will go home a lot more when I have the car.

I like playing the piano and I think I’ve come on pretty quickly since starting proper lessons in January. I just find that when I get home from work, do the usual web trawl for an hour, make dinner then watch hollyoaks (yeah I know it’s lame!) it’s like eight pm and I can’t be bothered to learn anything and it’s so much easier to pick up a guitar for musical gratification. I keep telling myself that it’s just the basic stuff that’s a bit dull and once I can play a bit better I’ll get to play more interesting tunes it’s just difficult to get motivated.

I used to be able to play the piano really well, but I stopped for some reason. I’d like to get back into it…

I wish I wasn’t so dad-gummed lazy when it comes to the piano. I’m supposed to practice three hours a week for my class, but that never happens, and when the tests roll around on Monday, I spend the hour before class frantically trying to learn the music.

But no more! No sir, not this semester. I’ve got to practice more, and I’m going to get in three hours a week if it kills me.
