I’m making progress, but get too distracted. Still, I’m very close to finishing this goal. If I focus over Xmas break, I should complete my Deathwing and Ravenwing armies. They have a small model count, and most are already built.
I love building models, but painting them….......... 2 years ago

I just assembled the Assault of Black Reach starter set, and combined it with another full marine tactical squad. This will form the base of my White Templars army.
20 Marines (Sgt w/ power weapon & Sgt w/ plasma pistol)
Dreadnought
5 Terminators
Captain (w/ relic blade)
total points: 815
The plan for this week is to clean these figures and prime them white. Again, nothing fancy. 2 years ago

We just moved yet again, and my Imperial Guard Army is stalled out. Actually, I left it at our base house in Utah (we have a house there for stuff because we travel a lot).
I have three Space Marine squads, dev squad, and Captain staring me down. They need to have some paint stripped off, be primed, and then painted/detailed.
The goal for August is to strip and prime them. Nothing fancy or crazy, just keeping it simple. Once this is done, I’ll decide on an Space Marine chapter.
I’m thinking White Templars. 2 years ago

I looked my Imperial Guard Army over, and what I have built/partially built consists of the following.
3 Leman Russ Tanks
2 Hellhounds/1 Devil Dog
6 Sentinels
2 Chimeras
60 Catachan Troops
2 Command Squads
5 Heavy Weapons Teams
I’ll start work on Monday (Jan.4). Considering my teaching and writing schedule, combined with military duties and a short attention span, my end of January goal isn’t very realistic. I’m thinking sometime around the end of March will see this goal finished. 3 years ago

This has been a really busy year, so the 40K goals have been nothing more than a series of stops and starts. Still, I made a lot of progress on various armies. Anyway, I’m ready to push through and complete my Imperial Guard Army (3000 points).
This should be done by the end of January. 3 years ago

I have probably about 5000 raw points of space marines. I have several problems. After trying to take Warhammer out of my life, i have stored and moved my SM’s upstate, to friends, and in small closets down in NYC. Thats 1. 2: My guys are either painted from ebay, which when i bought them they were oop, but all in different colors, or painted from when i tried to get an army done (badly). 3: When I primed my army, my primer was too thick and now almost all of my models are too thickly coated. (At least they are the same color. 4: REPAIRING! Holy crap the repairing that awaits my saturdays and sundays… Almost every one of my models is broken in some way or missing an arm here, a hand there, and a gun somewhere. I am seriously going to have to spend time on my bitz and my army. (Once i finish it will be an amazing sight to be seen. Apocalypse, Here I come!) Recently I tried and failed miserably a take and hold against my friend who fielded blood angels (60 assault marines much?)2000 points, which shows that i seriously also need to refine my strategy. 4 years ago

I feel really guilty about not completing this goal yet! Between moving cross country twice, teaching, and working to restore a an older home, I’m not getting much Warhammer done.
I’ve built and cleaned models, but have yet to complete an army. I am now rededicating myself to this goal.
This weekend I will complete, sand, and prime 3 Leman Russ tanks, 2 Hellhounds, 1 Sentinel, and a Griffon. Once these are done, I’ll then sand and prime 25 Imperial Guardsmen.
It isn’t a complete army, and it won’t be painted, but it is a start. I want 1000 points of Imperial Guard painted and tabletop ready by 1 June. 4 years ago

OK, Necrons are the easiest 40K army to paint. It almost makes up for them being such a pain in the ass to build. I’ve been working on my Necron Army on and off for several months, and will complete it this summer.
I’ve already built 70 warriors, 12 destroyers, 3 heavy destroyers, a Tomb Spyder, 5 pariahs, 3 Monoliths, and 2 Lords. Most is already built and cleaned, but priming and painting work still remains.
This summer I’m alternating between the Necrons and my Space Marine Battle Companies (previous post). I know this army will be finished and on the table by 01 September. 5 years ago

It has been 5 months since my last entry, but I’m making progress on this goal.
I sorted sorted, organized, and cleaned all my gaming stuff. I have a lot of Ebay “job lot” marines that needed TLC. Anyway, after much gluing and sanding, I finally built up two Space Marine Battle Companies.
The first will be the Dark Angels 3rd Company. It still needs a lot of work, but is taking shape. I plan on building my Ravenwing and Deathwing around army
My second army is the Angels of Vengeance. I’m further along we this project. I’ve already sanded, cleaned, and primed this army. It’s an all black color scheme and shouldn’t take too long to paint.
I’ll complete the Angels of Vengeance first. To fatten them up, I’ll add a Vindicator, Predator Destructor, 3 Rhinos, Dreadnought, and a 10 Scout Sniper squad.
Both Battle Companies will draw on my Ravenwing Force (14 bikes and 2 speeders). It is built but remains unpainted.
There is also a Deathwing Army on the horizon. I’m thinking 25 Terminators, 2 Land Raiders, a Land Raider Crusader, and maybe 2 Dreadnoughts.
I’ll update in August. 5 years ago

I played two games Monday, running the Glendale GW Necron army. Despite building (but not yet painting) my Necrons, I’d never played them. My list was thrown together and limited to what the store had.
I squared off against my friend’s Tau Army. He plays Tau a lot, is hyper competitive, so I figured it would be a steep learning curve. I also figured I was in for a major ass kicking.
The first game was seizing the center objective. It was a tie with both of us having two units on the objective. My opponent was dissapointed.
The second game was cleanse. Not as interesting a scenario, it was also a minor loss for me. Despite the victory, my opponent was still disappointed.
I am now motivated to complete my Necron army. 5 years ago

The guy in the title is me.
I built my Baneblade this week. I also dusted off my stalled out Imperial Guard Army, which is pretty much built. I plan to chip away at this army through December.
This weekend I’ll probably “nerd out” with Star Trek and finish my armour. This includes seam removal, sanding and, with luck priming. I doubt I’ll prime but hey, aim high.
More to follow…...... 5 years ago

OK, so you noticed there are no pictures posted of a Relictors Tactical Squad. There is a perfectly good reason why…. I never did them. I ended up cleaning mold lines and completed other very important prep work, but that was it.
Yeah, I suck.
Anyway, I wrote a page for a short film, then my microscopic attention span turned to my stalled out Imperial Guard Army. I managed to put the treads on four Chimera APC type tanks. Completed and ready to paint are 4 Chimeras, 2 Hellhounds, a Griffon mortar, a Leaman Russ Battle Tank, a Basilisk, and a Salamander Command Tank.
I’m thinking a white undercoat with a desert theme. I have at least 40 Guardsmen ready to play (built, but of course unpainted) to go with them. I’ll do some minor work (sanding, some green stuff work, and other petty obsessive compulsive shit) this weekend.
Come Thanksgiving I’ll paint them. This means breaking the cherry (and learning how to use) my new airbrush. The plan is a thin undercoat and base coat followed by lots of drybrushing.
Also, I’m just talking tanks. The 40 or more Guardsmen will have to wait a little longer. I will (eventually) post pictures.
Crap — I’ll post the unpainted models this weekend to give you a taste. 5 years ago

Despite my best efforts, it’s still not happening. Between teaching, writing, and film group, my stupid ass isn’t getting a lot of painting done. The fact I have the painting attention span of a retarded gnat isn’t helping.
I have a 3 day weekend and plan on painting a single Relictors 10 man tactical squad. I’ll go to Games Workshop at 10:00 tomorrow morning and work through the day. Monday morning I’ll go back and finish what I can’t get done tomorrow.
There will be pictures come next week! 5 years ago

My summer break ended (I teach middle school), so I don’t have as much time for this goal as before.
Saturday I started two Monoliths for the upcoming Apocalypse game. Both were unbuilt and came from Ebay at half the Games Workshop price. Ebay is a great resource for the Gamers on a budget.
Monoliths aren’t all that easy to assemble, and these came with warped sides (most monolith models suffer from warping). Since a tight fit impossible, I did what I could. Today I will sand and scrub the models, then try and putty the gaps.
For my Apocalypse Necrons I’m at 52 Warriors, 6 Destroyers, 15 Scarb Swarms, 2 Lords (destroyer and regular) and 3 Monoliths. I’ll still get another Battleforce, a box of Warriors, and 3 more Monoliths. That should put me around 3000 points. 5 years ago

The Templars are taking way too long, and are going back on the shelf.
Friday, I pulled out two of Necron Battleforces I had started last Fall. I built 20 Warriors, 6 Destroyers, and 6 Scarab Swarms. Today I plan on removing mold lines, sanding, and undercoating all my Necron Warriors (52), Scarab Swarms (11) and Destroyers (6). I also need to build my Necron Destroyer Lord.
Tomorrow I plan to paint at least 36 Warriors, all Swarms, and all the Destroyers. Next week I’ll tackle the Monolith.
Once done, I’ll have a 2000pt. Necron Army, and this goal will be done (and replaced with building my second 40K Army). 5 years ago

Spent most of today working on tanks. My Black Templar Predator Destructor and Predator Annihilator are ready for a priming. I also worked on an Ebay job lot Dark Angeles Predator Annihilator and two Immolators.
Tomorrow I will clean and prime my Terminator Squad and 10 man tactical squad. May also prime the job lot Destructor. I’ll probably give it an Angels of Absolution paint scheme. 5 years ago

Spent most of the day at Games Workshop in Glendale working on my Black Templars. I built 7 Terminators (3rd edition but converted with 4th edition and Templar bits)
I also worked on a 10 man tactical squad. I plan on undercoating everything Monday. The actual painting will take longer.
Tomorrow I will paint up some Salamander Terminators. Christ, I really need to focus on a single army. I just get bored working on one color scheme. Pictures to follow. 5 years ago
