get photos of pelicans in flight

Yesterday I sat with camera in hand focused on a pelican sitting in the water. I was waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, arms getting tired. Finally I put the camera down.
THE PELICAN flew up to sit on a piling. I think he was laughing at me.
I’ll get him, one of these days, I’ll get him.

I’ve been trying to do this for some time. They aren’t easy birds to get photos in flight of because they spend so much time sitting high upon a pillar watching over the waters below.
